Store bought soil question.

Wondering what store bought soil will last the longest before having to add fertilizer? Fresh out the bag without adding anything.

Recipe420 says there's last 6-8 weeks.
Is there any that's longer than that ?

If your looking to avoid adding fertilizer I recommend going with a living soil like subcool's super soil mix. A living soil should have all the nutrients needed through flower. Only downsides are you need a second soil mix that's not so hot on top to plant in like roots organic and it takes over a month to make your own if you don't buy it online.

My hydro store guy talks about Coast of Maine's Stonington Blend used in 7 gallon and bigger pots not needing any nutes throughought the whole grow but I haven't tried it, available in the Northeast us, not sure how widely it's distributed, good luck

Subpools super soil is a terrible recipe and gets way more attention than it ever should. Better to just make a simple, well balanced mix that can be recycled.

I'm just looking for one straight out of the bag that's ready and that'll last a good while without having to mix and make my own or add more soil to it. So far 420 seems like it'll last the longest

I've heard of that and talked to them and people on Instagram that uses it. Everyone loves it. They said around flowering time they have to add fertilizer. Only problem for me is no shops local carry it and to get them to ship it to me is around $1300 for the pallet. 420 would cost me $600-700 for a pallet..

The only other soil I can recommend & that I use is foxfarm ffof and I've had some strains like white widow go 6 weeks but then you've got to feed

Fox farm Ocean forest soil will last for about 4 weeks. At the 4 week point I start to add some half strength nutrients and watch the plants response. I would guess happy frog is the same way.

Michigan mix works well. Might even be to hot. Does last through full grow cycle of you do at least 2 transplants. Some girls don't like it and others have no problem.

Your hydro guy knows what he's talking about. Coast of Maine's Stonington blend is good stuff.

A similar, and almost as potent, product made by Coast of Maine, but labeled under Master Nursery is "bumper crop". Both can be used straight or mixed into hp promix.

Coast of Maine also has a Stonington Blend dry fertilizer that works well.

Their Lobster compost is some good stuff as well. I have a couple buddy's that use Coast of Maine Bar Harbor blend potting soil and the lobster compost as their base soil with a 1:1 ration. Their Sprout Island seed starting mix is some good stuff as well.
