various cannabis questions

Hello my cannaphile friends,

over the last few days a few questions I could not really find answers to came to my mind, maybe you can help me answer one or two.

- Why do people say you should dry in the dark? i dried in the light and when I checked the trichomes later they all lookes good. It doesnt make sense to me. You grow with light and then you try to keep light away? Why?

- What do you guys think of watering with Ice water for the last 2-3 days in order to stress/shock the plant to boost THC production?

- is there any scientific information on when the bud really stops growing in mass/size? What happens if you let it flower (without considering the state of the trichomes) I can see under my new light they come up with bulks of white hair in the last days and they then form to add to the budmass.. hard to explain but I would say they are still growing even though they are by definition ripe for harvest

- Concerning THC-production, is there no method for a normal not-scientist person to test the THC? This makes everything very complicated..

- another one: what about UV-B light? I grow with Amare SE, it has LED with UV spectrum.. I am wondering: should I add the Exo UV-B bulp or would it be too much? does UV-B even make a difference? any experience? I unfortunately am unable to judge if there is a difference

- is Cree COB still state of art technology or is there better lights by now?

It is good enough if everybody shares a bit.
Thank you

Have a nice week

Uv is pretty pointless, we do not see much from adding or subtracting and it must be the hardest of the suns spectrums to effectively replicatexwhich might be why its never been the next craze or produced much. Great read no ones made it work much.

We just dont want strong light on our bud or certain processes happen that arent wanted. Some light wont do anything but easier to say dry in darkness so you do the right thing not sun dry in mud summer.

Leds are great lights but they cause too many arguments bs qnd growers that simply havent got this hobby worked out but troll these forums with comments like hps is outdated and too hot to grow plants with.

For that reason i want little to do with them and advise the same :-)

Light degrades thc when the plant is chopped.

There are plenty of ways to induce stress. Whatever gets your rocks off.

Just like any other "fruit", they ripen, then over ripen, then die.

Smoke it. The more fucked up you are, the more thc there is. That's my clinical trial anyhow.

I don't know enough in detail to be helpful with the lighting. I still use the dinosaur HPS ballast.

Good luck.

I use one of these to test my flower and concentrates at home.

Light degrades thc after its chopped that’s why you dry in darkness and store in a cool dark place. I see more “frost” using cmh bulbs due to the extra uv that comes from the bulbs. No real increase in potentancy per se but it does help with over all resin production even in low resin strains.

I've seen dudes on Instagram give their plants ice water the last few days in flower and swear by it. For now I think it's just broscience. Just my two cents.

Light and heat degrade the THC and Terpenes, keep bud away from heat and out of light.

Honestly dumping ice water on your plant is about as dumb as freezing your plant to death at the end. Only one I have seen that makes any iota of sense is leaving your plants in the dark last 24-48 hours before harvest as it allows the plant to use up any excess sugars.

Unless you work in a lab or can afford a test, there is no way for you to check THC% at home.

I'm personally happy with my QBs, a lot easier to manage temps IMO. When I ran my COB light, temps were harder to manage. Always made temps in my tent 80+ deg.

1. Drying in dark stops photosynthesis and buds will express fragrance ( just as they do at night ).
Light will degrade thc. You are trying to STOP the plants internal processes as it dies and dries.

2. Ice water, driving a nail in stalk , boiling roots , waving a chicken over it , or other hippy bullshit
is just ludicrous. Take the plant to full maturity and harvest it at peak is the only goal.

3. THC home testing .... why ? What will any data do for you , if you are doing home grown.
Buy good genetics and enjoy the benefits.

4. UV adds some benefit by supplementing light that may lack it. Plants will express more to the glands to act as a sunscreen protection , but also helps increase cbd , thc and resin. Low level use
Is recommended as too much is harmful to the plants. Early introduction into grows helps harden them off to their environment.

5. Cree , VERO , Citizen, Luminus and even Bridgelux have good cobs ... look at the kelvin rating and high cri for use but they are all good choices. Samsung leds , Nichia , osram are another .
But be aware of knockoff offerings from sellers .... do your homework, there are many that substitute
shit lower bin or outdated stock. Don’t believe everything a seller touts.

Good luck

I remember cats saying they would pull the rootball intact at harvest and drop it into boiling water to "shock" the plant into sending thc into the cola tips.

Lol.

A plant will senescence itself under a proper nutrient regime. No need for a pilot.

That's still happening...... Lol

The cats who made up the ice water and boiling water ideas were better growers than us all - i think they understood it was more a fun idea for the pros because some of the theory was sound and growing gets boring so peeps postulate ideas.

Ive done it - didnt hurt nothing done correct, was fun :-)
