PPM/EC GH feed chat recommendations

I currently use a UK feed (Shogun) in an RDWC system. I have been feeding at what EC Current Culture (the RDWC system manufacturer) recommend in their feed charts regarding EC/PPM as Shogun don't give recirculating recommendations. The maximum EC, CC recommend is 1.4/700 ppm using RO water when in full bloom and even that was pushing it looking at my plants.

Thinking of changing to GH nutrient line. Been looking at their recirculating feed chart and they recommend a max of 1400 ppm/2.8 ec feeding this high would finish my plants off in 24 hours.

Am I missing something??

Personally, I've never been able to feed as high of strength as the brand's charts say. It would flatout fry my plants. So I don't think that you're doing anything wrong, no different than most people can't feed the strength that is advised on the bottle. I'd just adjust your feed strength downwards until your plants are comftorble. I've never really used feeding charts or I could be of more help here...but I use Floranova with great success.

I agree with you wholeheartedly but why do feed companies do it. General Hydroponics are a respected company and apparently cannabis feed experts, they stipulate grow /bloom /flush so they are talking cannabis. Why would they recommend something that would kill cannabis plants. Anyone using their recommendations would blame the poor results on the product, I just don't understand their logic. The only company that is anywhere near is Current Culture with their own brand nutrients.

I have just been looking at an article on Leafly by General Hydroponics and they say

"Feed charts provide loose instructions on how to effectively feed your cannabis, but they can always be adjusted to better suit the specific needs of your garden. To adjust a feed chart, first familiarize yourself with the suggested chart and know how your plants respond after these recommended feedings. Understanding a plant’s response to any given nutrient will help you predict how it will be affected when you increase or decrease that nutrient"

"know how your plants respond after these recommended feedings"

They recommend feeding at 2.1 - 2.8 ec (1050 - 1400 ppm) in week 1 of flower. Feck me I know how they would respond, lockout and frazzled.

You would think the common sense advise feed companies should give would be to underfeed then increase not overfeed then decrease. Overfeeding damage is hard to put right underfeeding is not.

yep. much easier to add nutes if they need it. not easy to fix nute burn.
Agree, but the article on Leafly is cannabis specific and if anyone fed at the levels suggested their first thoughts would be th nutrients were garbage and drop them so the company GH would lose money.

even the Lucas formula (designed solely for cannabis) is 8ml micro/ 16 ml bloom. that burnt the crap otu of my plants. then i learned to use my EC meter to determine how much my plants need to be fed.

I'm just starting RDWC after growing in coco and cocked up my first attempt overfeeding at 1,6 ec (background tap 0,2).

Do you rate HG nutrients? I did like the look of Dyna gro but not available in UK.

i love them. best i've used.

i use a 1:1:1 ratio of flora micro/grow/bloom for veggin
then switch over to maxibloom for flower (dry nutes, ultra cheap)

i thought dyna gro foliage pro was decent but it needed Mg and sometimes Ca.

and in dwc/rdwc, always feed less than you think you need. if it's too low, just add a gallon of water with stronger EC and you can bump up your EC really easily

Not many in the UK grow RDWC a good few DWC but RDWC advice is hard to come by. Many thanks, and by the way I may add a waterfall to my existing recirculating system foe next grow following your advice on my previous thread,

def try the waterfalls. they produce more DO than airstones by far. and you aren't pumping warm air into your res too.

Rocky, at what rate are you using Maxibloom?
I agree 110%, Less is More!

I'm growing DWC. And this is my first grow. 600w hps / White Russian fem 1x. First week of flowering 1650ppm. Tap water 160ppm. I haven't had any problems for now. I hope I don't have any problems.
Sometimes I have calcium deficiency, but now I'm giving cal-mag over normal. I'm washing the roots if anything goes wrong. I change the reservoir water once a week. Finally drip a drop of clorox bleach into the reservoir. It prevents the formation of algae and harmful bacteria with 1 drop clorox bleach for nutrient water or hydrogen peroxide .
I read that the peroxide could seriously damage the roots. For this reason I use "clorox bleach" my roots are healthy.
Sodium hypochlorite in the bleach cleans the roots of pests. He called me "Snype."

Tap water:140-160ppm?
14lt water tap
My nutes:
40ml Sensi bloom a+b
20ml bud candy
20ml Sensizym
20ml root juice
20ml power zyme
25ml Kushie kush
30ml sensi calmag
Ph 5.5 - 6.0 Ec 1600/1700

Looks like you've got a good system going. Personally I use bennies over a sterile res, but hey if it works then it works!
