I power 1000 watt mh used?

I purchased the 1000 watt mh from amazon it’s the only bulb I’ve ever seen that has that black brownish burnt look. Is this normal I’m usually outdoor only

small pieace of scandium been melted, thats how to make this lamp light up. Even the new one just out of the factory appear the same.
