1lb indoor plants

Hello, looking for more experienced veteran growers out there and some advice for vegging out a plant long enough to have a 1lb indoor plant, lets say ceiling height isnt an issue if i want to have a 7 ft tall plant in my space, id like to do 2 1lb plants, thinking 50gal trash container dwc pots and under 2500w of light, mixture of hps and new quantom LED's. Im under an assumption that this might take 4months to veg, im also not sure whether or not to top top top or mix it up by topping and being selective with pruning out and manacuring good tops out of side branching... Never tackled this before, not looking for ideas on how this wont be achievable, i think its totally doable with the right process, so if you want to jump on the thread and follow this project i will riddle the thread with pictures and continually keep this updated along the way, get comfy im thinking we are in for a lengthy veg :)

A 50 gallon container is overkill for 1 lb. A 20 gallon container of soil will easily do it. A single 1 kw over each plant, using a scrog, and you should get your lb each. Probably wont need more than 2 months veg.

Okay so 20gal soil pots, can i do same size 20gal dwc buckets per plant to achieve same goal, not a soil grower i dont play with soil enough to grow em like i do in my dwc's, and thank you looking at your journal now :)

Yeah you can do 3+ pound plants indoors given the right strain and setup. Not saying it's easy or cheap to setup for 3+ pounders but 1 pounders isn't that hard, my girls 5 gallon bucket plants each did about a pound and they didnt even get their own light.

Its in my signature, just click that link
I see that you and some others mentioned big plants being strain dependent and i see all of your vertical lighting in addition to the overhead lighting, i use 2 1000w eye hortilux hps over 2 3x3 flood tables atm, also in the process of switching out some hps for these quantum led's i have been putting together and while reducing my power consumption im trying to minimize plant count without sacrificing my yields... Point being if this is strain dependent i have a number of different options to start with, 8ball kush, fruit punch, strawberry diesel, lemon diesel, chemdawg, or blueberry... The biggest yeilder on the tables is between 8ball and fruit punch they always get huge resiny buds, the colas are always nice and uniform so i was thinking maybe one of each to see who would do best. I normally just use trellis and training (mainly topping and being very finicky about trimming side branching to manacure big one nug colas). I liked the cage trellis netting around your plants... My guess is your secret with getting them so big is a well dialed in combination of that process, the strain, the vertical hanging lights, and enviroment im really interested to hear your opinion on using a 20gal dwc bucket instead of soil, i am not a soil grower just yet lol, dabbled but hydro is my thing

I had a DWC going in there for a while, what you are talking about is very doable. I just have to be able to move plants from veg into the flowering rooms and it's just a more stable situation for me with the potted plants. If you have a DWC dialed in you can get even better yields IMO.

The environment is key.

My soiless mix is fed a lot like hydro, same nutes and such just a higher pH. I am by no means organic. What I do could be called drain to waste top fed soiless...

This is day 30 of the current 2 3x3 2kw set up, nutes are gh floramicro and th flora bloom use the lukas formula 8ml/16ml per gallon micro/bloom and supplement with gh calimagic and liquid koolbloom, 20 gal res per table...

The lucas formula works great for what youre doing. I used it with flood and drain sog back in the day with excellent results for many many runs. To get one pounders though you will need to look at the grow nutrient bottle though because bigger plants require more... At least I had to add it.

I use the full 3 part gh formula for veg and supplement the veggers with forlicous plus and florablend and i brew compost teas for all of my veggers and bloomers, like an organic/chemical hybrid food for an, makes an frosty and delicious and dense... Would i still need a more powerful veg formula then the food i give the veggers now?

In addition its the aggresive veg formula gh lists on their bottle the 3-2-1 gro-micro-bloom the supplements i add sparingly to adjust more nitrogen and the tea is amazing for the plants all the way around, its a bacterial tea for the root zone

Maybe, I don't know what your feed PPM is really. The plants will tell you is thats the case. A lot has to do with plant size as well as environment. If you are pushing them hard with CO2 and whatnot then you generally need a little stronger feed. Some strains are bigger eaters too so running a mix of strains can get a little difficult if they are all on the same reservoir.

If i was going to run 2 big ones in 20 gallon dwc buckets they would each have their own res, i dont like rdwc so they wont share food ill be able to tend to each ones needs seperately ppm count in the res's now is never over 1000ppm never under 850ppm for the bloomers and Co2 ppm in the air ranges between 900-1450ppm, the room is long and narrow, 5 1/2ft wide x 12ft long 8ft ceiling height... Enviro is really good, humidity temp everything... You think a 2 month veg would be suitable to facilitate each plant being big enough to yeild a pound

The 1lb mark is really not that hard to hit, a lot of new growers make it seem like a hard to hit or lofty goal. It's not. Soon as you figure it out it's a surprise if a plant DOESNT hit a lb.

A lot of it is sq ft based. You should be able to get a lb for ever 4x4ft area. Aka 16 sq ft so oz per sq ft. This is easy/low target. I've heard of 4 oz per sq ft, but I dont really go for more than a lb per 4x4 myself.

You spend a lot more time vegging one plant out to get a pound than growing more smaller plants to get that same pound.
