ant nest in outdoor pot

i was giving my outdoor plants some nutrients today and noticed one pot has a ant nest in it
i have several plants all in a big net so i cant remove the plant plus they have just started flowering so i cant re-pot to get rid of the nest
i am thinking the ants might eat too many roots so its could become a problem
last time i had a close look at my pots was about a month ago and i had no ants at that point but i dont know how quickly ants can build big nests
my plants have about 9 weeks maybe longer
do you think they will do much in that time and would ant poison kill my plant if i used that
not that i think its a good idea to use it bit if they will kill my plant i might consider it

I don't know if they'll kill it or not. I use cinnamon or cayenne pepper as a deterrent for them, but don't grow in pots outside. Not sure how much luck you would have.

As far as poison, they make sticky ant traps you could throw on top of your soil to get a lot of them.

Mix borax with equal amount of sugar and leave it by them. They take it back to the colony where everyone eats and explodes.

Buy Borax in the laundry soap section of stores. 100% borax. Use the leftover on your laundry.
ok cool i can try that sounds better then using ant poison. would borax be dangerous for my animals. its soap so i don't expect other animals to like it

Borax is not toxic. It will whiten your clothes and brighten your colors in laundry. Pretty cool stuff.

"Borax, also known as sodium borate, sodium tetraborate, or disodium tetraborate, is an important boron compound, a mineral, and a salt of boric acid. Powdered borax is white, consisting of soft colorless crystals that dissolve in water." (And make ants explode)

I regularly have ants nesting in pots here in the UK (several a year) although these are normal garden plants and not cannabis. The ants dont appear to eat the roots but If untreated they leave the pots full of voids and tunnels and the plants suffer. I simply put ant powder at the entrance holes and the ants carry it into the nest and they die quickly and the plants always recover. PS Just starting my very first grow now so fingers crossed.
Hope this helps.

Pyrethrins are not good. Effective but poisonous. Go with the Borax.

my ants dont seen interested in the sugar and borax mix left it sitting in a small lid for a full day and they seem to avoid it . could i just sprinkle it on top of the soil. i would imagine it would get wash away when i water and would need to be added again . would it do anything bad to the plant if a borax and sugar mix is washed in to the pot

if i cant get borax and sugar to work. what do yous all think about a chili spray
i grow super hots (trinidad scorpion crossed with yellow habanero) and have considered making a chili and water mix to spray on the nest and trails but don't really expect it to do much. has anyone ever tried that

I understand, sugar is the" attractant "food source and they will drag the borax home as well. He stated they didnt seem interested in the sugar. This can be true of of a particular ant colony and i guess my statement was vague and i should of just said try something like bacon bits and borax lol just to clear up the statement
