Dude I've been growing in SOG for 9 years I fully understand the variables of plant size and canopy density. I also understand how plants that size grow pretty well. I perpetually pack 45+ plants into a 4x4 space to make a nice tight SOG canopy.@Roger A. Shrubber that drawing is a true vertical grow lol I am just stacking horizontal sogs to make it classify as vertical. SoG is the quickest way to fill a space so if I stack them and get rid of extra space I think 1.5gpw will be in the lower end or more standard to pull.
@Thundercat I'm not hell bent on how tall each canopy will be due to the density and the fact there is multiple rows of it lol.. don't think there is a loss in yield or efficiency just based on how tall the canopy ..but definitely density of canopy matters u can have 4ft tall canopy equal the same weight as a 2ft tall canopy just depends on density
@Sparky123 thanks for clearing that up lol more over thanks for your 2 cents feedback donation its all going towards the greater cause lol & yeah your totally right I intend to put in lots of daily labor to keep things in order as it does start to seem like a full time job lol guys this is great I really think I'm going to put this together only thanks to the community's help & feedback! I'll sketch up a drawing for you guys & plzzz guys plz comment anything that you think I need to take into consideration! @Thundercat how tall do you grow your plants & how far does the bud go down.. only the top quality bud ? Maybe 18"???
it's so many strains out now & breeders that list specs about their crop it won't be hard to find a strain that grows compact & has big yields lol any suggestions???
Google? Experience? Pheno hunting? Buddy who has to crazy strains ready to go?
Like this.My suggestion would be the bottom rack houses the res, one big res for each setup. Then stack 2 levels of plants. Allow maybe a foot to a foot and half for the res depending on what’s available. In your 9’ ceiling you could then have 2 levels around 4’ each. Should be enough room for a nice sog style strain. If you wanted perpetual say harvest one level while the other is half done you may need a second res. Again strain dependent due to the different ppm and nute reuqirements between flowering cycles
I used to run sog back when I was growing for production. I can tell you it is a lot of work. I mean a lot of work. And plan on a good amount of space for moms and get damn good at cloning
As I said before strain selection is key. Get pheno hunting now because pushing a strain sog that wants to stretch into a tree is just going to be a quick lesson in how to do extracts from popcorn
Exactly like that!!! Little mini trees. What lighting is that under?
I run a variety of strains, and have over the years, and different strains will grow differently so I make adjustments for that. BUT generally my plants go into flower between 6-8 inches tall. After they stretch through the transition they are generally between 18-20 inches, and sometimes 24ish fully budded out depending on the strains I'm running. I prefer hybrids for the mix of growth and the tendancy to get the more spear shaped single cola structure. I remove the bottom side the bottom set of side branches but leave the rest and typically have a nice 6-10 upper cola, and plenty of 2-3 inch buds below, and a hand full of smaller stuff at the bottom as well. I average about 8-10 ounces per 10-12 plants with roughly 1-2 weeks of veg from rooted clone. Thats mostly to let them establish roots. Most times I take twice as many clones as I need and split them into 2 groups the fastest clones that reach the right size go in first, the rest go in 2 week later to keep the perpetual harvest on track.@Sparky123 thanks for clearing that up lol more over thanks for your 2 cents feedback donation its all going towards the greater cause lol & yeah your totally right I intend to put in lots of daily labor to keep things in order as it does start to seem like a full time job lol guys this is great I really think I'm going to put this together only thanks to the community's help & feedback!
