New DISCOVERY! Vertical SoG most efficient way to grow weed with latest LEDS !??

@Roger A. Shrubber that drawing is a true vertical grow lol I am just stacking horizontal sogs to make it classify as vertical. SoG is the quickest way to fill a space so if I stack them and get rid of extra space I think 1.5gpw will be in the lower end or more standard to pull.

@Thundercat I'm not hell bent on how tall each canopy will be due to the density and the fact there is multiple rows of it lol.. don't think there is a loss in yield or efficiency just based on how tall the canopy ..but definitely density of canopy matters u can have 4ft tall canopy equal the same weight as a 2ft tall canopy just depends on density

I think you got maybe room for 2 vertical floors. Your not calculating room for a few things like having a res underneath for collecting runoff; you will need auto watering system with a serious res to collect run off from 3 (or more like 2): this will likely eat up at least 12 inches. Also height of pot and maybe some airmovement; extraction, fans, with that much plant mass you will need a lot of airmovement. Also the dimensions and accessability; can you access the 5 foot wide space fron all sides? If you cant then it would be extremely hard to pull off. If you can; its still quite wide for you to be able to properly care for a plant which is 2.5 feet into the aisle. Especially since you want to have a more than one plant per square foot.

If i were in your place i would start by doing one floor.

You also mentioned “selling a complete system to home growers” bear in mind a SOG setup of any substantial size is a fair amount of work with keeping a health supply of moms and making sure your cloning is bang on. Just a lot of work unless your aiming to sell weed for a profit

Dude I've been growing in SOG for 9 years I fully understand the variables of plant size and canopy density. I also understand how plants that size grow pretty well. I perpetually pack 45+ plants into a 4x4 space to make a nice tight SOG canopy.

@Randomblame woaahh hell of a reply! Thats my cup of tea right there :lol: I'm going to break that down give me a sec to understand & digest it lol just had to quick respond to the quick read I did over it! Looks like u basically built my light for me lol very detailed.. and as far as the rack system goes I would shoot for 2 racks @Roger A. Shrubber & @OneHitDone but that means more veg time.. I don't want any if I could do without it lol

@Sparky123 thanks for clearing that up lol more over thanks for your 2 cents feedback donation its all going towards the greater cause :bigjoint:bongsmilie:P lol & yeah your totally right I intend to put in lots of daily labor to keep things in order as it does start to seem like a full time job lol guys this is great I really think I'm going to put this together only thanks to the community's help & feedback! I'll sketch up a drawing for you guys & plzzz guys plz comment anything that you think I need to take into consideration! @Thundercat how tall do you grow your plants & how far does the bud go down.. only the top quality bud ? Maybe 18"???

Trying to compare your strains to thundercats will not give you a good comparison. Some strains have terrible SOG production where others enjoy a single cola lollipop

You should start with a strain you know and have a few grows with it first to know how large it is going to get then that will tell you how much spacing you need between racks.

Going off any of our height recommendations and then having your own strain stretch like hell might get you up shit creek without a paddle

Also stacking things so so tight on 4’ wide tables will really diminish your airflow circulation across the canopy just inviting mould and bud issues.

And bear in mind you’ll need a way to reach the back of the canopy to check and work on your plants.

Interested to see how this turns out. Tag me when you start building

@Rocket Soul yooo what's up my man I love my 420 family! Thanks for kicking it with me and the rest of us :clap:bongsmilie .. I will find and tag the video of where my DiY idea came from where they have their tiers on wheels and are able to get in the center of canopy by simply rolling racks either left or right to literally walk in the middle of canopy.. don't imagine this big canopy on 4 wheels... But more like at least 16 -20 lol let me find the link

This thread is growing quickly lol give me time away to draw a sketch to help you guys & also this whole idea is based on this link but I think I can build one more tailored for the home grow.. it's so many strains out now & breeders that list specs about their crop it won't be hard to find a strain that grows compact & has big yields lol any suggestions??? Also my grow medium will be Coco which I didn't think about the res and how that would work yet but it's coming lol

My suggestion would be the bottom rack houses the res, one big res for each setup. Then stack 2 levels of plants. Allow maybe a foot to a foot and half for the res depending on what’s available. In your 9’ ceiling you could then have 2 levels around 4’ each. Should be enough room for a nice sog style strain. If you wanted perpetual say harvest one level while the other is half done you may need a second res. Again strain dependent due to the different ppm and nute reuqirements between flowering cycles

I used to run sog back when I was growing for production. I can tell you it is a lot of work. I mean a lot of work. And plan on a good amount of space for moms and get damn good at cloning

As I said before strain selection is key. Get pheno hunting now because pushing a strain sog that wants to stretch into a tree is just going to be a quick lesson in how to do extracts from popcorn

Lol quick smoke break I figured I'd see what's going on & @Sparky123 & @OneHitDone very nice suggestion.. I will draw one up with those specs as well & like seedsman ummm royal queen seeds plus more have genetics and reviews for each one..

I run a variety of strains, and have over the years, and different strains will grow differently so I make adjustments for that. BUT generally my plants go into flower between 6-8 inches tall. After they stretch through the transition they are generally between 18-20 inches, and sometimes 24ish fully budded out depending on the strains I'm running. I prefer hybrids for the mix of growth and the tendancy to get the more spear shaped single cola structure. I remove the bottom side the bottom set of side branches but leave the rest and typically have a nice 6-10 upper cola, and plenty of 2-3 inch buds below, and a hand full of smaller stuff at the bottom as well. I average about 8-10 ounces per 10-12 plants with roughly 1-2 weeks of veg from rooted clone. Thats mostly to let them establish roots. Most times I take twice as many clones as I need and split them into 2 groups the fastest clones that reach the right size go in first, the rest go in 2 week later to keep the perpetual harvest on track.

@jarvild awesome sog pictures!
