LED is great if you have heat problems, it can produce the same amount of light as HID with 60%-80% of the power of HID, so less power is needed to produce the same amount of light.

The heat is proportional to power, 60% power, 60% heat. As GBAUTO pointed out, LED doesn't heat the plants with infrared like HID does, so plants under LED like higher air temperature, around 82-84 F.

It depends on the LEDs. Believe it or not, a high end DE gavita is more efficient than the cheap LEDs like Vipar Spectra. A QB or Spyder on the other hand runs so much cooler that you don't even need active cooling.

Their are other things to consider also. Having a cool tube allows you to extract heat extremely easily. Having your LED drivers outside of the room also cuts down on the heat in the room as some energy gets lost there too.

So yes, LEDs are typically cooler than HPS due to needing less power to run but not all are created equally.
