My dad sells all this crap. But talks a language I don’t understand guys. Haha. When he heard what I was doing he was all up on the Meanwell. They the best haha. Funny guy.

Yeah I’m ordering the 185 1050 model. $79. I’m ordering the 1050a model. What’s the difference with the 1050b model for an extra few dollars?

I just can’t get my power cable down. Can’t seem to find the proper one on digi. Way too many. I need a 120v I’m assuming for my driver. The python plug goes right on top of the leads. I wanted to extend the wire a bit like they do for the HLG kits. Or is that really necessary?

So I’m paying $177.

Running 9 bridgelux eb2. HLG 185 1050a. 25 feet of 22AWG hook up wire and then another 22AWG Hook Up wire. So I could get red and black. Don’t need 50 fucking feet. But it’s $4 for 25 feet. Then just gonna grt the python plug. Run a small extension cord instead of wiring an ac power cord. And then buying my aluminium sheet. Drill some holes. Use some machine screws to mount everything and I’m off to the races.

Thanks for everyone’s input. Didn’t go unnoticed. Took me a while to understand.

Just sourcing my aluminum now. May go to Hamilton which is a steel town in Canada to grab a 24 by 12. I can get 24 by 24 aluminum sheet but don’t need. I prefer a 24 by 12. For those 9 strips perfectly. Cause they aren’t exactly 2 feet.

I was thinking about using 22 gauge from driver to the boards instead of the 18.

18 was gonna be for the Ac side to the wall.
AC side is actually 14 Awg if I remember correctly. And definitely go with 18 AWG solid for the DC side. My day job is power supplies.

I went 22AWG solid for the dc side. Won’t be a huge issue will it? Led gardener used 22 gauge on his build. So that’s where I pulled the number from.

Problem with the 22 is it’s very thin. If your using the solder pads no big deal but if you’re using the push in connectors you’ll find the 22 AWG flimsy.

As I see. Fair enough. I’ll let you all know how it goes. If I can find some 18 guage solid ends in a store somewhere for dirt cheap I’ll pick them up. Digi key didn’t really have any. They had 50 foot rolls. Didn’t really want that much of the crap. If I have problems with the tips I’ll hunt some new wire. But $200 for a 200 watt led strip isn’t bad at all. Excited to build this thing and flower it. Wires only costed me $8 for both black and red.

I’ll be posting the finished product in this thread for others to read up on if they want to build one.

You may know already, but some folks use aluminum baking sheets to mount to. They’re fairly cheap and you can get pretty big ones.
I bought the 1050b model not the A model. When reading the stats the A model didn’t allow for dimming as per the website and stuff I read. The B model is the one that said it allowed for analog dimming. When I read the data sheet just now I see that the A model has a built in dimmer. So minor mistake. I’ll get a dimmer for the veg tent cause that’ll be needed. In any event if I don’t get dimming not a huge deal breaker for me. It’s being used for flower.

I’m already addicted. Going to replace a 400 watt my bulb for veg and may build a 1-2 strip build with a 185 driver dimmable for my bubble cloner

I think the b model has a lead coming off of it for you to add a dimmer, the a model has a dimmer built in to the unit.

Yeah that’s where I made my mistake. Not going to bother using a dimmer. I’ll be fine full power. Just gonna leave it. I won’t have to do anything special with the wiring now will I? Just cap both the dimmer wires speperarely with their own wagos suffice?

I’m glad to know I don’t need to run the dimmer on it. They are cheap. But I don’t have a soldering iron. And buy a $1 thing from digi meh I rather not do now that my shit has shipped.

Don’t want to electrocute myself. So I’ll be buying a couple more connectors just to cap those extra leads.
