Should I prune right to the top?

Due to running LEDs for flower I don’t get great light penetration. Should I remove these lower budsites / leaves all the way up to the tops or should I leave 1-2 budsites below.

I don’t want to hinder plant growth but at the same time I don’t really enjoy smoking bitch buds as they often have more stem than bud and take forever to seperate for the grinder.

Will these lower nodes grow a fair bit or are they still a waste? 169646C6-FE16-489C-8463-0B53BE77DCE9.jpegADD36BDC-49C7-4CAE-9101-E8F77741A769.jpeg

I prune off everything that is not in my first layer of netting. Honestly if you showed me a pic of what I do now verses what I did five years ago I would have laughed and said it was crazy.

I didnt scrog this run, being my first I thought my plants would struggle a lot more and likely die. So i didnt wanna build a scrog just to break it. Now into flower on my first grow I realise that cannabis just needs controled love and itll be fine so im definitly scrogging on the second grow. I also topped too far up my plant. I tried fimming and topping this run and definitly prefer the symetry of topping. Though I want to look i to LST

i'd say you did ok with the lollipopping, maybe a little too far with the pruning. i try to leave some large sun leaves on the perimeter, as long as they aren't shading anything.
pruning is pretty much unnecessary outdoors, but inside, i think they have it a little too easy for their own good, and get too dense for light to penetrate, or air to circulate, easily. so i pick out the ones laying directly on other ones, or shading a larger area than they cover. otherwise, i try to leave as many as possible.

Due to the tent size the plants currently overlap so the perimeter ones were shading other plants. I really cant wait for a 630W cmh will do much less defolitaion with that

I don't trim anything. The lower buds don't take anything away from the rest of the plant. When I trim, anything that is small and a hassle to trim I literally strip off the stems with my hands and dry in a tray. I then get some dry ice and turn it into this.

I think it's a waste to cut off lower budsites. Popcorn and larfy bud makes excellent dry ice hash.

Do you have a link to making dry ice hash?

it's easy, but you need either a set of bubble bags or a piece of silk screen material...i use silk screen material. i buy a chunk of dry ice, smash it up in the heavy plastic bag it comes in, then pour it and my trim/popcorn into the middle of the piece of silk screen material, make a bag out of it, and shake the shit out of it in a 5 gallon bucket (well cleaned)...the trich heads fall through, and the plant material stays in the bag. you stop after 3 or 4 minutes and collect what's in the bucket, kief. (what's in that jar ^). then you do it again till you start getting greener looking kief, which means it's about played out. i'll shake it a couple more times, but i keep that greener kief separately, and use it to dust bowls, or make moonrocks... you can cook whats left for butter, or just get rid of it. you can keep the kief sealed up like that for quite a while if you let it dry a little, or you can keep it frozen "fresh" and use it as you take it out of the freezer. you can take the kief and make hash. i use the hand method just kneading it for a long period of time, letting the warmth from my hands help "melt" it. a bottle full of hot water helps as a "rolling pin", i've been told, going to try it myself the next time i make some. you can also use a press, but i've found that the small hand units don't make it melt inside, you need a hydraulic press to get enough pressure to make it "blend".

Mr. Shrubber, if I use an ounce of Primo bud to one 14 oz jar of coconut oil, or 1 pound of butter, roughly many grams of kief would I use to produce approximately the same strength cannabutter? -thanks

I use two three gallon buckets and a lid I bought at Lowes. Cut out the bottom of one and taped the screen on. Put that one inside the other, dump the material in, add dry ice, shake, and collect. It's really easy and doesn't make a mess.

I like that! thanks for sharing that I could get rid of the whole mess of it at once like this! what size mesh would you recommend?

I just use a little pollen shaker but in the only dry ice extraction I've seen the guy did it over a big coffee table & a lot of it went in the air LOL

i'd start around 4 grams and see where that took me, you can always simmer in some more, or even add some more coconut oil to get it just right...

Sorry to bud in here but, as far as i can figure, there's no place anywhere near here ( nova scotia can) to get dry ice. Who would commonly use it and where might it be available ?

they sell it in 2 poundish chunks here, at the supermarket. people buy a fair bit of it to ship food, or carry it home with them from vacation.
nova scotia has to have big sea food markets, if it's to be had, they should know where to get it
