I've got 26 days left of 70 before mine flip. I'm shooting for each of my 4 plants to fill their own 54" x 27" scrog space. The scrogs are at 32", 18" from soil. Each plant has 300w of QB132 boards above them. They're in 25 gallon fabric grow bags using equal parts of FFOF, FFHF soil conditioner and extra large perlite. I should have around 50 or more tops per plant and I expect about a pound each.

I'd rather do as you said, make sure they're growing very well before the flip. At the rate I'm growing, I'll do 2 grows a year and yield around 8 pounds. Keeps me plenty busy. (:
I think my love for larger plants came from a single plant grow that I did years ago. I vegged a plant for about 4 months and trained it meticulously. It wasn't a grow for quantity, but rather to see what I could do to influence the plants growth and health.

With that single plant, i had trained it for so long, that the plant itself began to understand the conditions, and ceased to grow vertically whatsoever. By the time I was done flowering it, I had seriously dense colas that were as thick as a soda can, and over a foot long. It was crazy. Eventually the lack of vertical growth was concerning, because at that point I was more concerned for mold development inside these huge dense buds, but it was an interesting learning experience.

your grow sounds like a fun one. I havent heard of a QB board. Is it something that I should look up? Ive been out of the game for a while and had so much equipment laying around that I just set everything up like I used to.

Dude fucking try to hit the record books. Please!!!! You should be shooting for 3 out of your space with that kind of veg time. Its all about how sexy do you feel right now.
I always like the idea of a huge harvest, but Ive always been more concerned about the quality first and foremost. I threw away 2 of my plants today because the space between nodes was minimally larger than the others haha.

Even if I only got a 1lb out of my plants, I'd know it was the best 1lb that I could do. The picture was some of my favorite bud from years ago. It was a medical grow for a senior citizen. I threw away half my plants during that grow to make more room for the other plants to flourish. The gentleman was so happy with the finished product that he compensated double what we agreed upon.

Although quantity is always important, quality is usually the only thing on my mind when it comes down to decisions.

Dude, yes you should definitely look into QB boards. They (and a few other LED boards) are serious contenders for a reason to switch from HID and eliminate all the heat. Quality and quantity are no longer a concern. (:

I have a bunch of reasons for growing very low big girls. Both quantity and quality are huge. The laws in my state limit me to just 4 plants in flower at a time. I'm growing for me and my wife, daughter and her husband, son and his gf, sister in law and her husband and a few old guys in the neighborhood, one with Vietnam related PTSD and schizophrenia. He's a joy!

My grow space is sort of an odd size at 12' long by 7' wide by 6' tall. Throughout the grow, due to light intensity from those QBs, I have to keep them at least 20" from the tops of the plants. The plants can't be any taller than maybe 4' at the very most by harvest time so I try to keep them at about 3' 6" maximum. Now, I've become obsessed with working with them, training them and forcing them to bend to my will. Lol

On my last grow of 4, I was just getting a real handle on my grow and the requirements around it. I ended up with 3 lb from 4 plants and I know I can do better.

Sounds like the grow space I grew in for years! I was in the basement of a lifted house and I only had 6ft ceilings.

Its awesome that you were able to adapt and still get the results that you desired. It took me some patience and practice to get great results in a low ceiling area but I'n sure you understand that even if the ceiling was to rise up, we would still be growing these larger plants and training them down for our wonderful even canopy.

I ended up deciding on the 5gal pots.

These pictures are 10 days after planting clones in their coco in solo cups. Growth was a little slow to start as the quality of the Skywalker clones werent great but some TLC has them growing at and extraordinary rate.

Yep, absolutely. The low riders are the way to go and IMO, go big or go home. I can't wrap my head around growing a SOG with 30 plants to each yield a half ounce when you can get better results from a single mature and fully trained plant.

There was definitely a huge learning curve and an evolution of changes to my grows in that room. Patience and practice, as you said. Until I had the low grow techniques mastered, I had a hell of a time.

Honestly, I don't mind the low ceiling at all anymore. If I were to change my room in any way now, I'd widen it up by another foot or two so I could spread them out even more.

Why would the results be better? Wouldn't a sog garden lap what you are doing? Like by the time you are done vegging they are almost done with their second garden crop. I mean everyone understands the safety of plant counts, but what exactly are you talking about?

I'm building trees, not shrubs. The longer veg provides a far more complex root system combined with a massive delivery system of a mature trunk and branches. Combine that with consistency of training, pruning and defoliation techniques and you end up with an overall extremely healthy plant that can push out lots of monster colas.

I could definitely be wrong on many little plants being able to produce an equal or better yield quantity in a much shorter time frame, especially in the hands of an exceptionally good grower.

I'm just working to maximize both quantity and quality in the space I have while staying legal. That's why I have so many people I'm also growing for too. Plus, I'm enjoying seeing how large of colas I can harvest. Fun stuff!

Apparently, our law makers don't understand what's possible with just 4 plants.... Lol, we have an 8 oz limit of dried flower per household, another reason for only 2 grows per year or I'd have to start giving it to extended family and friends too. I'm a giver but...

...you gotta draw the line somewhere...guns and ptsd seems reasonable...

Do they like the LED bud? Any feed back on when you gave them hid bud?
From these QB boards, definitely well liked. Nice dense and large cones. No larf and filled with trichs due to the intensity and spectrum of the lights.

My buddy grows with 2000 watts of HID. Grows some damn fine buds but, they're nowhere near as dense as mine. He doesn't do the training I do so a lot of his final weight dried is larf. Nowhere near as many large colas.
