do they give the software away free when you purchase the hardware?
Paying for *good* software can be worth it. I shelled out the $180 for Indigo on the Mac. Handles Insteon and X10 (and many add on systems). Its actually pretty awesome software and *fully* scriptable with Applescript. So whatever it doesn't do, you can write a quick progy to handle it. (support is spot on too)

stays relevant.
LOL. I was just more pointing out that getting a limitlessly configurable software is worth paying for. (Linux, if you can stomach it, is a hacker's delight)

LOL I was making a joke. 60% of my systems at home run on linux. I also set up a linux network deployment system at work capable of imaging 1000 linux workstations in around an hour... I totally know all of the pros about linux, and believe in it entirely.

Way easier to develop quick scripts on/for Linux than it is on/for Windows... Unless you're using WMI then it's pretty easy. I was originally planning on making just a WMI script to handle pulling webcam images and uploading them to a host, but I figure the software exists to do exactly what was needed... Maybe another time.
