I finally got word on the strips. As of April 9th the entire order was 60% complete. So hopefully they get shipped very soon. Starting to get super agitated. I mean my order was placed on back on march 28th.Damn I cannot wait for this light, it is killing me lately. Lol I know I told you I can wait but damn I am excited for this! I will be patient and hopefully when I get to see it built it will keep me calm for now.
Why are you using 480s and not 600s ? Another led noob here watching you work lolAlso building a 15 strip light being pushed by a HLG-320H-48a driver. Running them at 446mA @48vdc 21.44w per strip. This will be a personal build going along with the two monster builds for @tman42 and green_256 I like the strips so well I'm using for their lights. I've decided to replace the lights I have built for myself.
I'm not sure, I'm assuming because more flexible, less heat tooWhy are you using 480s and not 600s ? Another led noob here watching you work lol
I stumbled across another post where he pretty much explained it, but I didn’t get to deep its late and I seen myself going back down the rabbit holeI'm not sure, I'm assuming because more flexible, less heat too
The 600s are12.5A max. I dont need the extra 2.5A bc I'd have to add even more strips. And this light is already gonna be damn near the size of a 5x10 area. And I have to ship it as well. And the 600s are too wide. They wont fit the framing. And as said above even more heat. And the price point isnt very good. I get a pretty good deal on 480s, with my work discount. The 600s are 170 bucks. And my discount doesnt cover the 600s.Why are you using 480s and not 600s ? Another led noob here watching you work lol
Is that far under rated? The I/O adjustment is 5-10A max. I know meanwell underrates there drivers. But I didnt think it was an entire extra amp. Which is fine. Bc I'm gonna run 36 strips per fixture instead of 30. I think. Running 30 strips two drivers. Puts them 666mA each. But 18 per driver puts them 555mA per strip. I havent decided yet.Make sure you take into account that the hlg-480-48a will output 11amp.
any pics of the build yet
Looking up some 480s never looked at them but for my future build I’m defiantly getting some. Only 100, and it is enough power. I went with a qb build for my led introduction , I’ve been thinking about a strip build. There’s 10, 25,50 dollar strips. Ive seen builds that use 4 4ft high powered with heat sinks and 10x that amount run cool. With my main growing style being sog with a keen eye for efficiency its a lot. Your builds looks very promising. I dread the wait game your having now. At the moment I’m looking at strip options for 600nm/730 to supp my Qb boards. It’s a lot of options for strips so I expect a good month of research before I can decideIs that far under rated? The I/O adjustment is 5-10A max. I know meanwell underrates there drivers. No pics yet bc I still have yet to get the strips. They havent even been shipped yet. I was under the assumption. When I spoke to Mark during ordering the site said in stock. Which that's not a the case. They have to be made after you order them. He changed his site after i said something. I order 100 strips assuming i would get them in a timely manner. But as of April 9th they werent even done yet. I ordered clear back on March 28th. And they still havent been shipped. And I need another 332 strips I have to find another supplier. I cant be waiting months for parts to ship to me. People dont want to wait 5 weeks for their lights. But that's what I get for assuming in stock meant they had the damn things.

The one i tested was just under an amp over. There is alot to account for but you can get a better idea of what the drivers output is via the test report.
You can use this one and just replace the numbers with whatever driver you're looking for https://www.meanwell-web.com/content/files/pdfs/productPdfs/MW/HLG-480H/HLG-480H-48-rpt.pdf
Im still waiting for you to get your strips before i get some.
Yeah those will go good with QBs for supplemental lighting. Theres tons of different strips. Theres 280mm(1 foot(11")) 560mm(2 footers(22")) 1120mm(4 footers(44")) lengths.Looking up some 480s never looked at them but for my future build I’m defiantly getting some. If you look on the data sheet it will show where the CC range is and where the CV range is. If you want CC stay in that proximity. If you want CV stay in that area. Adding strips to it will lower the current. But you have to stay in the voltage range of CC. I'm assuming your in series wiring. So what happens if you add more than the voltage range on a cc driver? I have 6, 4 foot bridgelux strips on a hlg 320h-1050b. They are running harder than I thought they would and I was hoping it might soften the load.
You're asking if you drop put the CC region like the hlg320h-1050b CC is 152-305vdc if you go outside that area I believe below it kicks to CV mode. If you go above like 320vdc it will kick the driver out.So what happens if you add more than the voltage range on a cc driver? I have 6, 4 foot bridgelux strips on a hlg 320h-1050b. Pretty much lol.Yea series, it’s right at the top of its voltage. There is a little headroom. It’s all good, it’s really bright. I’m running about 80% in strips and 100% on my logics which feels good.
At full tilt the angle I used gets a bit hot. The surface opposite the strip is high 90s pushing 100 f. I don’t plan on turning it full blast, but I think fans would be in order. Speaking of in order I just noticed I need to change my sequence order lol

Lol so you’re the reason digikey is like in permanent back order on those strips now Hahahaha.
