A little confused on LED watts :/

I've always been an outdoor grower (indoor veg) and i'm interested in trying my luck with an indoor flower...Iv'e always used a few 4ft, 8 bulb (5,000k) T5's and know these lights wont cut it for flower...I'm currently looking at a few "blurple" Chinese LED's, specifically the Yehsence "1500 watt" and x2 1000 watts (same manufacture) ....I understand Chinese LED's are a contentious issue here but I've weighed pros/cons, brands, studied styles and sizes ad nauseam and have my mind set on these lights not only because I've seen results online but also because I'm on a tight budget....While i understand that these lights are nowhere close to what they advertise in the way of power, my question is how does the power draw equate to output?....The 1500 watt has a draw of approx 250 watt at the wall and the 1,000 watt draw 180 watt each for a total power consumption of 610 watts, does this mean the plants are receiving 610 watts or am i looking at this all wrong? Any opinions on using all 3 of these lights in a 4x4 tent? A preemptive "thank you" for any replies, I'm exceptionally neurotic and investing my money in an indoor setup over spending that money on my regular outdoor routine has really got me nerved.....

Yes you have to look at Actual watts and measure from there, not the fake watts model number they give you. What you also have to consider is that they using the total watts drawn, including the loss from their inefficent drivers. You may have to take an extra 10% off the power rating for that as well. Also their diodes are cheaply made and aren't very good at turning electricity into light energy... take an extra 10~15% off for that too. Now you see what you getting for saving a few bucks now, something you will likely replace after one grow.

600 w led true power pull can produce good results, if the spectrum is dialed in. You can pull over 1g per watt, if setup properly with scrog. I get great results with cheap LEDs. For my indoor medical needs, I get potent supply. If you are looking to grow to sell hid is the way to go, but for me, the LEDs are perfect. Low heat, less power, similar results in tight spaces. My 650watt (true draw) can compare to 1000w hps, if done right. Hps does lose a lot of it's output in heat and some wasted spectrum . but, the LEDs you buy need to be dialed in right, so be careful...

Thank you so much for the speedy reply :) ....So if i were to have 640 watts i should remove about 20% conservatively which would put me at around 480 watts? this seems sufficient to me to really fill a 4x4...or am i being too optimistic?

Thank you for the reply :) What brand are you using? The Yeasence LED's i was looking at seemed to be at the higher end of low quality....x3 5 watt chip per diode, veg/bloom switches....

I've got bestva. They suck to deal with. Horrible customer service, but they are working well . Again, there are much better lights but for what I need, I am happy... they are same deal, higher end cheap lights. Build is quality. It grows strong pot on a budget, i need nothing more...

Awesome thanks again for the help folks....Lighting has me completely overwhelmed...my budget is about 350$ for lighting and i want the most bang for my buck....Yehsence as glowing review for their customer service, plenty posting about speedy customer service, almost no questions asked on replacements and a 3 year warranty.....

I ran 4 180 watt actual draw blurples in a 4'x4' area. I now run a homebrew 16 cob "white" cob in the same area at 600 watts. With better results. And the room runs much cooler obviously.

Thanks. I notice that it is a company selling lights... I'm cautious of those studies. I go by my results, and my led is doing what I need it to. But, it is limited to just that.. cheers all!
I guess its not as objective as I thought, but here's the link..
https://thegreensunshineco.com/hps-vs-led-grow/

I grabbed the pic off of a different and unremembered site and didn't look to verify the source or study until now..

LED's can't really be judged by watts... But as a general rule of thumb... If keeping your plants short with an even canopy such as a scrog setup or using lst... Most people shoot for 35-40 watts per square foot. Some LED's have a higher output than others... So they aren't created equal. If you are going with cheaper LED's... Which you are I'd shoot for 40-45 watts per square foot.

At WORST case, a single 315 CMH will max out a 3x3 area... Even in a 4x4 tent, it will be better than any cheapo purple LED stagelighting... I have more than one 315 cmh running, one of them in a 4x4 tent.
This is coming from an experienced DIY LED builder....CMH kicks farkin arse my man.
You can get a basic 315, with a bad ass Phillips 3100K on Ebay from hydrocrunch for under $200 last I checked....

I can't thank you enough for this information....you've made me completely reconsider my lighting I think i might go with this (See pic) and with x2 of the Philips bulbs you mentioned which i found for about 70$ a piece. Scanning the forum i see others have had great success using x2 315watt cmh's in a 4x4
