Dry organic fertilizer, Coco Coir & pH?

What up! So I recently had a good experience with my first auto in Coco Coir & wanted to continue growing Autos but with dry amendments...

My question regarding Coco Coir & dry amendments is, should the pH be 5.8 as it would be normally or should it be higher? If higher, what range do y'all suggest?

anywhere between 5.5 and 6.5 i my tap water comes out at about 6 iv never ph,d without a problem i use cana coco a and b thats it my last auto was a mephisto 3bear og and yeilded 6 zips per plant

Another question, should I worry about the pH range for the runoff? I understand that Coco and soil Is completely different but what are the chances that the pH runoff would be below 5.5 with the method I'm thinking of doing?

What does your nute instructions say about ph? I grow in coco using dry chmical nutes. 3 drop ph test. I shoot for yellow (6 ph)

I don't test runoff...unless I have a major issue. Then if it's like well below 5...then salt build up and you better flush or increase runoff. Never flush with pure water...always with 1/4 nutes or some calmag.

It states 5.5 - 6.5, Ahhh I got it now I just thought having the amendments from Down To Earth within the coco mixture would effect the pH that's going in which would give a very low pH on the runoff.

Not all nutrients will lower ph. The manufacturers take ph into consideration as they formulate it. Mostly it's done with manipulation of the N formula.

Are you planning on maintaining a res or are you gonna do batch mixing. Some things will throw ph out of wack but those measurements need to be taken before putting it on plants. Runoff is if you over feed and toxify the root zone...runoff will tell you how bad it is.

I never knew that hmmm wow :thinking: batch mixing... I'm not confident in what you meant. I plan to mix the dry fertilizer amendments into the the 5 gallon pots of Coco so I can just skip mixing nutrients & just hand water with pH'd water

Sorry this an old thread but how did you get on using dry amendments in coco? I’m thinking of doing the same but have read mixed reviews? Thanks
