Im in the same situation as yu bud. i just use three 24" 20watt fluros. they cost about 15 bucks a bulb, depending where yu live. not that high tech and really easy to use.

The cheapest way to grow a little stash for free is using 4 foot 2 tube fluro(s) with the 40W Cool White tubes. That'll run you about 12 bux each, bulbs included, at W-Mart.

I use 3 fixtures per side (6 tubes) for vegging and it works fine. I grew the plant in the pic with just these fluros. One will work, two's much better, etc.
You must keep your growth as close as possible to these tubes. They're only hot on the ends, so pay attention there . . . otherwise, they can slightly touch. I suggest 24/0 veg period w/these.

Hey rozzman,
don't get yourself down, people have grown marijuana before with far less light than you are using. I agree with Mr. Fishy though, get some 4' shop lights (mix your spectrum though, don't just use cool white) and your plants will love it. Check out my current grow- Vegging and Flowering with nothing but fluorescent tubes- 3rd day of flowering- they're looking great.

I would skip the flouro's and look for used lights in your area. Do you guys use craigslist or similar over there for used stuff? Newspaper?

Over here I could find used 150-250w HPS or Metal Halide fixtures with bulbs in the $20-$40 range. I have no idea about where you are though.

If you can, skip all other lights and look exclusively for HPS or Metal Halide from 150w on up. They grow better than anything else by far.

The light you have is laughable but we all started somewhere.
Welcome to the forum.

im from london as well mate, go to this website:

Progrow Hydroponics

I got most of my stuff from here, look at the lights and see what u wanna do. I would suggest maybe getting some 125w cfl's. They are working a treat with me, i use them on top and use like 36 w bulbs around the sides of my plants.

dont worry bout being a noob man, people dont abuse ya for being a noob on here!! need any more help let me know

You mean "pointing up" as in "reaching" for the sun (or light)?

Generally means happy healthy growing plant, though you might be able to lower your light a hair, which might "relax" the reach a little?
I consider it a good thing myself.
