Yup,running out of room here.Running plants in SIPS for the first time and they absolutely exploded with growth.Tomorrow marks day 21 since 12/12 flip and I'm currently 12 inches from my cob.Nothing seems to be unhappy so far, hoping like hell the stretch is about over. What is the closest some of you have kept your cobs above your tops?

depends what kind of power your running to the cob itself. With 75 watts a cob, 8 inches is about as close you want to get. Which is over 1000 PAR, and HOT.
I have a small space and running 25w per sqft or 200w most of the grow.I have yellowed up buds going up to 37w the last two weeks of flower. It smoked fine,I just didnt like how it looked.
Would a temp gun on the buds give me a good indication if/when things get too hot?

I just had issues running CXB 3590's about 12" above canopy at 80%. Everthing seemed fine until one of my plants started fading, then it just started looking burnt. After a close inspection all the plants under that light have suffered a touch of heat stress. I dialed it down to about 65%, and had a noticeable increase in resin production in a couple days. You can do what you're doing, just pay attention to your plants and adjust your light accordingly. My first clue should have been my banana breath's slightly curled leaves, and wifi threw a couple stress balls. My light is in a 2 x 4, 5 CXB 3590's 315 watts @ 100%.

A temp gun will tell you leaf temp spot on. I use mine quite a bit. I was registering 80-82f leaf temps, my environment is dialed to 82f, so I thought I was OK.

ive said many times, 600 PAR is the sweetspot for cobs, and if you can dial things in with Emerson effect, 400 PAR is very good, but also the min you want in a NON co2 added grow room.

But i also grow 12/12 from seed most of the time, and in smaller containers, not more then 2 gallons. The stem/Stalk isnt big enough to be taking in High Par values. SO the DLI is on a smaller needs for my grows.

You can think of the leaf, like your arm. In the blazing sun, you sweat, and that sweat creates tiny microscopic water molecules that form on your skin, till the Air drys it or is whip'ed off. But till it is dissipated or removed, its like a magnifying glass. It will burn the surface. as to why a fan is just as important as an AC for your area.

But what ive been experimenting with, is intermittence of intensity/rest periods of photons. Blast with light, then let it recoup for a bit, and repeat. Since ive been doing this, it has been by-far my best growth to date. As far as no burnt leaves, or old leaf syndrome, that looks like leather. At least i think it has something to do with it, lol.. I think i also got a few differnet things in order, like PH, nutes and such, lol. WHoooooknows,
Down the line, id like to set up muliple grow areas, to test certain things as far as stem to DLI ratio, and photon rest periods.

Sounds like you've been doing your homework. If you make a thread on this stuff you should tag me.
