Starting flower

Usually takes about two weeks. Depending on the strain, it will probably at least double in size the next 4 weeks or so. I just finished a sativa dominant strain that I flipped at 16" and it stretched to 65". Indicas won't stretch to that degree, but they'll double easy enough.

Flipped to 12-12 the other day and its growing like crazy . Solid couple inches in last couple days . When will I start to see the white hairs popping up , been several years since I grew anything and I was never successful getting anything using random bag seeds and crappy lights .
So far so good it looks like. Usually it takes between 7-21 days for plants to transition from veg to flower. How long exactly heavily depends on the genetics and the grow environment. Your plant looks to have some indica in it, from the fat leaves, and compact growth patterns, so I would guess it will be sooner rather then later.

How long did you veg it before flipping to 12/12? The plant will need to be genetically mature enough to flower as well. You can grow plants 12/12 from seed and they still won't start flowering for 5-6 weeks usually.

Was about 5 weeks give or take of veg before the flip , this was just my trial grow to get my feet wet in the hobby again . It is an afghan seed that was not guaranteed to be female either but I have determined that it is female so would like to try and get it all the way through the grow

Seems like a good start :). Honestly I probably would have vegged it a little longer. I would bet being an afghan it won't stretch a lot. But since you are just getting a feel again Im sure it will be nice to just get through a full grow.

I'm not a huge advocate for major leave removal, but I have seen the benefit of selective pruning many times over. If that was my plant I would probably remove those 4 largest fan leaves that are coving the inner growth, to try to force the inner branches to stretch up a little looking for light. It will help the plant spread out more. You certainly don't have to, just my 2 cents.
