When to increase lights?

When your lights are that close, you create a heat issue on the leaf surface. So because you CAN drop them 6 inches away, your putting a heating blanket right over them, so they have the ambient temp AND the heat from the light source.

SO backing the light off, they will be able to use the light, instead of tryin to cool itself from getting baked, which is why they WILL get deficient because your already not using CalMag, which is a big need for photosynthesis to occur,

The leafs dont get cooked from to much light, its because they cant cool them self properly, thus dryin its self out.

I personally believe stem thickness is relative to who intense of light the plant can take.

You dont put 60,000 lux or 900 par on a seedling, or even a 2 week old plant. But even if your in a small pot, and your stalk is 1/2 inch round, it still would be to much light, even at 8 weeks in flower, because there isnt enough biomass to use the light.

There is the argument of, "but they can take the sunlight", but there is also leaf cooling from the breeze, and not a blanket of heat suffocating it. and this is why the lights cant be just inches off the tops. The lights are like lasers. and it would be even better if they were diffused to be honest.

I think if you took some cobs, and put a Solar-plex greenhouse sheet under them, the lights would be even MORE beneficial because of the diffusion, which is going to be my next addition to my grow for experimental purposes.

It might take 8-10% of the intencity away, but it breaks up those beams of light, and breaks them up.

Everyone is making this super complicated lol.
Raise your temps to 82f-84f with LEDs and they will be fine. You say your plants are happy otherwise so dont go running up the rh because someone says VDP is the only way. I run 84-86f and 45%rh and the plants love it.if you cant keep numbers perfect at all times VPD can be a nightmare

Ive got it running at 190 watts with no complaints now. Having the exhaust fan on seemed to be the problem. Ive been using cal mag since first watering due to growing in coco. Plants always prayed at 23 to 24c with 60% rh. So i figured keeping it there with more light would work. At that temp the plants didn't like the increase in light. Raising the temps seem to be doing the trick. Keeping rh at 60% still. Back to the original question though. When do you led guys hit your plants with everything you got? Also i agree about being able to keep the strips close, I really got no plans of raising the light.

@Glovelove I'm also not a huge fan of getting super technical with things. I just keep that simple chart i posted to stay in the ball park of where rh should be. Higher temps seem to be what i needed. A very strange concept becsause a couple months ago i battled high temps non stop with my hps.

It didn’t happen to all plants which had me stumped. It seems like plants with better root development can handle the higher light intensity. I’ve always ran higher temps(85f) to take better advantage of the co2. My humidity is around 70 because I also follow vpd. My plants are still in early to mid veg and have to be spread from each other every two to three days because the growth is exploding. My plan is to slowly increase the light intensity every few days to ease the plants into higher intensive light. That’s how nature does it. Also I believe outdoor plants don’t have this problem because they’re able to develop such massive roots and foliage to be able to process and use all the light the sun gives off.

My flower lights never come off 100% power. My stuff goes straight from 18-20 watts per sq ft to 40-45 watts per sq ft no problems. I used to run t5 only in veg and they went directly under 1000w de lamps and loved it. But I also let the plants grow up into the lights so under LEDs they are 24 inches or more away from the fixtures
