by swapping led for hps, you are changing the parameters. the spectral charts for each are completely different so it would make sense other variables would change too.

I personally found my SS 440 more similar to growing under HPS that my HLG QBs. I didn't really have to change much when i switched from hps to the 440 because they both run kind of hot so heat exchange was similar, the plants seem to react similarly as well. The QBs took a bit more dialing in (mainly temp and rh tweeking) but now that i know how to uuse them i would never go back. They are just better.

That's up to the grower to figure out what parameters best work in their garden period. For me it's simply running my room between 77-82 degrees with night time humidity at 50% and lights on humidity at 60-65%. Other than that it's just tweaking nutrients for some of my more picky cultivars. Nothing more.

I use the term coined because it comes closest to actually indicating what is the root cause, the defeciency of led spectrum. Not saying you wont see similar situations under other lighting, specifically with regard to tunning the environment to the light source the less effort the better for me.
Want proof, take a plant that is giveng you difficulty (every grower has them evem masters like everyone in this thread) and put it under a different light source.
BTW that plant I pictured saw 46F last night and thats not the coldest temps its seen.

I dunno, not having to cool my grow quite as much doesn't seem like any actual work to me. To each their own.

And though this solved the problem would you be so bold to say it was the only solution? I speculate not, because you are indicating 2 different culprits.
Much of the time I need to warm my space. Liquid cooled leds dumping heat to the surrounding area is a very logical option. Much easier to manage heat with liquid than air.
I do believe leds are the best way to go for indoor gardening.

This is what I often ponder....
I get lots of petiole purps....some stem purples. My conditions can be somewhat unstableish admittedly, and my grow skill is at best, double A minor league...
Yet, as shitty as my plants can look (usually do)near harvest I'm pulling PLENTY of yield for the spaces I work.
I feel like I'm a solid 80% optimal.
I worry less about the purples.

When it starts like it does in this plant, stem first the expand to petiole and veins. Leaves were starting to curl down at margins. Admitidly it can be a natural expression but when coupled with other characteristics of general plant weakness I think it is more accurately described as a deficiency.
This strain would purple when healthy but between the veins before the veins turn.
Pretry sure it was not an environment thing. I wont say there was not a solution to be had by changing the feeding regimine. In fact I think enough food was present it just wasnt prepared to the plants liking. The suns spectrum prepared the plants pallate to eat the food that was on the plate. This is of course an opinion and an oversimplification.

The circumstances Are So Interdependent And Environment Is A Huge factor. These variances (led defeciencies) seem less obvious in a well tuned garden. Many who venture out making their gardens public fodder (the big guys) have very well dialed gardens, they also have motivations not to tell you everything that is going on in their garden.
I think plants have a cumulative memory the particular plant I referenced above did spend a bit of time in a smaller container, but I have been able to that same size container for others without issue. So I'll go a step further and say it is plant specific and strain dependent.
To be clear I am not crying, just looking at all sides as thoroughly as I can. The division of lighting camps has hampered our industry and hobby for too long. Far too many led growers have never used any other light source and have difficilty seeing the benifit to older technology. Professional greenhouses still use LPS, which is only a half step better than incandescent with regard to photon generation.
The mj production industry will be driven to large scale greenhouse (not warehouse) grows and therfore less effort will be spent on technology that is scalable to compete with that, leaving the home hobbyist growers to flounder in the wind.

Well, GML went through loads of issues and posted the lot - it was real ugly at first but he turned it around. Greengenes also posts his garden dramas, dude, he's blunt to say the least

Ding, ding, mutha fuckin, dig a good carpenter does not blame their tools. A good carpenter will also select the right tool for the job.
Absolutely agree the light manufacturers give not a care, the quibbling between growers is where it hurts us. I see a lot of closed minds, thought you were one of them before this interaction, I was wrong.

I can't tell any difference in smoking my 'red' weed and my mates green weed, same clones so to me it's not detrimental. Maybe it's stress related and the red plants are stronger?
At the end of the day you'd need to send samples off for scientific analysis to prove it.
My bottle of cal mag sits on the shelf gathering dust. I haven't used it for a few years now.
My indoor temperatures are cold. Flower room lights out around 12°C - 53F and when lights come on the temps rise to a max~ 29°C - 84°C. And that's in the summer.
I've been growing like this for years! Lol
Mind you my outdoors daytime temps are around 16°C today, night time around 8/9°C and I've 4 clones in the garden growing away.
