The age old question of 'how long to go'

This plant is supposed to be done this week, but I suspect because of high temps it's been a bit slower. I guess I'm looking at 2-3 more weeks, but I'm a beginner at this indoor malarky, so what do you think?

Thanks for your help!

Doesn't look ready yet. You have a lot of fresh white pistils, and the leaves haven't changed at all.

Can you find a magnifier with which to check trichomes? That's the best way to determine maturity.

Looking healthy!

Yeah I've got one, unfortunately it's not digital so I cannot upload photos, unless I can attach it somehow to my phone using tape - which I will try. That plant is right at the back and as you can see I've overloaded the space so it's tricky to get to it. Will take a look tonight when the lights come on.

Normally what's the process and timeline?

I guess it keeps on putting out new white pistils until some point, then they all mature and turn orange while at the same time the trichomes change from clear -> cloudy -> amber? I imagine it's quite strain dependent for timelines.

These are the strain details: https://en.seedfinder.eu/strain-info/Delicious_Candy/Delicious_Seeds/

Their photo shows very orange pistils on their pheno...

Leads me to believe it's still ages away, which is both exciting as they're gunna get bigger and testing as I wanna get in there :-)

Looking healthy!
Thanks! This one seems to have faired the best with the heat, most are ok, but the taller sativa leaning critical kali mist wasn't as keen. (it's linked in my journal in my signature if you want to see)

Sounds like you understand the time line better then many new growers. After the hairs change and receed, then the buds swell internally and put on a significant amount of weight, and finally during this last period is when you should check trichomes.

Your plant definitely has 4 or more weeks to go. It's are looking good just keep it healthy till the end and you will be rewarded.

Any timeframe the breeder gave for the strain is just a guideline. And most people make the mistake of counting time starting at 12/12. But the plants don't begin flowering instantly, it takes time for them to transition. Flowering doesn't start until the plant is forming flowers.

Keep an eye on it and keep is undated with pictures and we can help you watch for the signs.

It's very easy to harvest a plant early. It's extremely hard to harvest a plant to late. I have NEVER seen someone do it on accident.

They look good, back off the nitrogen if you haven't already as they are still really green. The leaves are tacoing because of heat?
Yeah it was really hot in there about 30, quite a lot cooler now 25-27C.

Yeah that kind of time is what I feared, but I hope it's less, maybe these are quick finishing varieties. :-)

They kinda went straight into flowering a few days after the flip, so I guess that conditions have just not been perfect for them since then, as they are still taking this long.

I'll add some more pictures (and closeups) over the next few days.

Thanks so much for your help guys.

Its good to hear they transitioned quickly it obviously was nice and mature. Its possible your conditions were less then ideal, and that slowed things down. Its also very possible you just have a strain that takes more time.

How old are they? My guess is 5ish weeks, am I close? Everyone wants strains that are done in 8 weeks, but there are WAY more strains out there that take 10ish weeks then there are that properly finish in 8 from my experience.

Today is day 52 since changing the lights! I suspect conditions were too hot as you say.

Nice, so figuring 7ish days for transition they are about to start week 6. They are looking good like I said. I'm gonna stick with my original guess of about 4ish more weeks :) hehe.

Unless you have a clone of this plant going we won't know if it was conditions or genetics that is setting your harvest time. Running the same genetics for years at a time has taught me a lot about how different plants deal with different issues.

I can see how that would help massively. In the long term I'd like to get some cloning and a second space on the go for veg.

I can also see how running a single strain would help with space and height issues!

I've probably made it as hard as possible for my first run, but then why change the habit of a lifetime.

Just bought some greenpoint seeds and was thinking of cloning the best of them next time round. Just need to get this harvest done first haha!

Day 55 and here's the latest shot of that plant from today... lots of browing happening on these new pistils.

I think the critical Jack is a bit closer by the look of it... Trichomes are cloudy / white, cannot see any amber yet.

Day 59 of the flipside.

Based on previous replies this plant still has about 21 days to go? Do you good people still think that's about right?

Looking great man, plants look nice and healthy. Seems like its still on that same time frame to me. There is still lots of fresh growth, so its still growing new buds right now, and hasn't shifted to ripening yet.

Thanks for looking bro. I've cut back the nutes and PK to about 1/2 dose, do you think this is premature if she's still throwing out new growth?

1/2 dose is probably great, and you can run that right up till harvest or up till the week of and then just give plain water if you want for a few days. I don't like to starve my plants to much at any point, but I'm also not about slaming them with nutes. Finding that happy balance in the middle is a balancing act :).

Cool, thanks.

I've found it's loads of fun when all the strains like different stuff! or not haha

Yeah I like growing different strains, and I grow them all in the same tray with the same nutrients lol so I have to try to find a balance point, or accept that one plant might not be as happy as the others, which is usually how it goes.
