Yield

Sooo me and my cuzin are in a debate hes been growing for years now and hes the one who gave me all the equipment to start...so today the little shit head says u will be luck to get a LB and was serious...however i am running 2 1000w hps lights with raptor xl hoods i got a 4x8 tent with 12 plants in 7 gal pots i am useing vegbloom nutes im also growing in soil...my room stays at a steady 78 degrees and around 35-60% humidity...word of thumb is gram per watt correct and since im new .5 per watt would be great...so from what i have told u what can i possibly yield and whats the lowest?? I have been really really studing growing for some time now and i would like to think i will get more than a LB i would be happy with 2 lbs thats my actual goal...what u guys think?? Is he just being a shit head? Lol
I grow in a 4 x 8 tent or 1.2m x 2.4m in the uk doing RDWC.. I do 4 x plants with 2 x 600w hps and i get 15oz ish a plant so about 60oz per tent or 30 oz per 600w light. so you should be killing 2lb easy with 2 x 1000w.. I believe 60oz is about 3.75 lb.. But as above says this is very strain related and depend on how good your environment is..
also running DWC helps with growing big plants..

You should be able to hit 0.5 grams per watt with average plants unless something goes wrong. With some very high producing strains you can get 1.0 and some amazing growers can get over that. In the long run you don't want to focus on just grams per watt but also want to factor in cycles per year. Doesn't matter if you can get 1.0 grams per watt on a 18 week cycle if you could have got 0.6 on a 9 week cycle.
Hi what strains do you run on a 9 week cycle because i have not had a strain yet that can be done decently! over just 9 weeks? are you talking about using the sog method and flipping right away 12/12? still what strains please?

If you can ever find an old school landrace indica called Shiva, she is ripe with swollen calyxes at day 60. I would kill to have that strain back, big dense frosty logs. She would stretch hard after flip but barely grow during veg. She was great in a SoG. Very potent hard hitting indica stone, couch lock to the max. Ran her for 7 years and nobody ever built a tolerance, one hitter quitter. Sadly I have only found crosses of her but nothing pure.

also very difficult to over water in coco..
That is why I say it's easier, you don't have to wait for the soil to dry out to prevent pythium. The coco holds more air at the roots. Also more forgiving for auto watering setups since you can err on the side of watering early.

That's my thoughts.. I did the soil thing for 8 years then moved over to coco for a few years now hard into dwc which absolutely kicks ass. its increased my yields by at least 30% over coco and soil.

i would say coco has its drawbacks as well like its not as forgiving soil on the nutrients side of things... Soil contains lots of goodness/nutrients already but in coco you need to provide everything it needs just like in hydro or they suffer for it. coming from soil to coco was a shock in that respect..

Boom Happy Growing

Never heard of shiva but will def look out for it.. all my 8 to 9 weeks strains go 9 to 10 weeks min from first signs of flower.

Peace out

I have grown with 2000w and only got 2 lbs when I was a noob. It looked like swag garbage too. This last grow I got 6.6lbs. GTH#1, sealed room, topped twice and LST, 1500 ppm CO2, 84F then to 74F the last 2 weeks, 5' x 9' scrog, 2300w DE HPS, recirculating top feed with rockwool in 8 x 7gal pots, Captains GH Flora nutrient recipe, Recharge and Mammoth P. You learn a lot in 15 years. I saw a huge improvement just by following VPD up until the last 2 weeks. You can learn a lot from these folks on the forums.

Thats very good. Can you tell me how long you veg for?
A month and a half. I used Blue spectrum LED for veg. I noticed it makes the nodes much tighter. GTH#1 Stretches like crazy. They still got a little out of control. I let them veg too long. I have a separate veg room that is sealed as well.
