Tilting plants instead of bending stems?

So I had a plant accidentally tip over a bit while I was out of town for the weekend, and the stems did a nice little bend towards the light. So it made me think, has anyone ever experimented with tipping a plant over on its side a bit to control the canopy - i.e. instead of super cropping/topping, just letting the stems bend naturally by adjusting the tilt every couple of days or so? I'm giving it a try so can post results if anyone is curious... Any thing to worry about?

Only thing to worry about is the soil falling out. They grow like that out of hillsides and do just fine.

If you stake a plant down all the bud sites bend back up to the light

It is the only way I know to grow hazes and Sativas in a low area

Yeah vert bulb growers have often had stadium setups with many plants on an angle.

However it doesn't do the same thing as bending a stem to the point of damage which triggers a hormone signal and makes the plant change its growth patterns.

Feel free to give it a go and see what happens. I don't think its the best way to train a plant but who cares.

I also think its more to do with gravity than light position.

Yeah there was someone on here who does exactly that. Instead of LST they called it zero stress training. I cant remember the post or user so I can't give credit.

The concept is that you tip the plant over to make it grow at 90° to the pot, then later you switch it round and all the side shoots become tops.

I have a feeling he did it twice, though I can't quite work that one out in my brain.

Is it not auxin related, therefore directly light controlled? That's what I learnt 400 years ago at school

Yup! Well, I sort of realized it was maybe not the best idea for me as soon as I tipped it over and realized what I would be getting myself into... Stressed the plant out too for a day or two as well...

Tried the Zero stress method years ago and saw no real benefit so I LST and sometimes get a little rougher in training. Squeezing stems with padded pliers makes bending easier and encourages strong stems.

I take 2 rifle bullets and squeeze them with those. You can use anything. Doesn’t have to be padded.

Used my fingers when I started and they made great snippers.
