Hello. Totally new first time grower here. So I’m sorry if I waffle a bit yet I’m a little green when it comes to growing a plant. Sorry about the pun...
I’ll try to explain as short and descriptive as I can. Thanks.
Also, I mean not to sound rude though I’d appreciate knowledge from a grower who has been there seen it done it and got the T-shirt.
Germinated 4 seeds. Indica, or could be hybrid. Potted them in small pots on the 25th May 2019. At first my watering was tragic, too much too little, wrong ph. I then purchased a digital PH tester(nice1 mum)and so began to balance my tap water with concentrated lemon juice for a 6.5ph every watering. At first my watering times weren’t clock-work. However, I got my seedlings to sprout and for two weeks I had them on a 18/6 cycle indoors. Ended up with leggy stems 4 inches tall under a 50 watt bulb. So I began gently bending stalks and they became slightly stronger.
All 4 plants after two weeks had just 4 leaves on them, that’s not including the Cotyledons. So I transferred them to 14litre pots, thinking it would be better idea, containing a mixture of 30% perlite 70% nutrient balanced compost(John Innes: 60% peat, Nutrient 6-7, ph 5.5-6) and filled them 80% full. I then stuck them inside a green house and covered them with same 14litre pots(totally blacked out)on top to block out the light and for the past 3/4 weeks had them on a 12/12 cycle. Not knowing how much I should water them I was very timid at first with the watering, didn’t want to over water as I read over water was worse than under-watering. Is this true?
So, One of the 4 plants took to sprouting better than the others.
It is this plant I wish to discuss...
During the day, from 7am to 7pm I take this plant and place it directly in the sunshine outside of greenhouse and, lol, watch it with intense excitement and curiosity, shooing flies and spiders and checking for signs of growth and maturity, plus turning the pot 180 degrees every hour or so for the sun to hit all parts of plant; All the while absolutely dying for a spliff I cannot afford to purchase at this time of my life. You see I’m growing this for medical reasons...Anyways...
It is now week 6 and this plant has just shown signs of its first pistils, at node 6.
One single set of two pistils about three millimetres long. I’ve read up on the Male/Female identity aspects and I strongly believe this plant to be a Female. Hope so anyways.
Six nodes total so far,(including the very first node)and literally growing taller and wider by the day. 5 Internodes.
The plant stands no taller than 10 inches tall atm from soil and is looking rather healthy, growing taller by the day and sprouting new Laterals up its main stem at the nodes. Next day from seeing first pistil and yet more pistils are sprouting all around the nodes, (new Laterals) on all Laterals except the very first node. Because this plant is only 6 weeks old, and that I’ve had it on a 12/12 cycle from a sapling, have I ruined its chances of flowering/budding?
I’ve read up on so many topics that tbh I’m overwhelmed with the possibilities of what and what not to do, topping, trimming leaves, bending stems, pruning, when to start flowering stage, etcetera...
Will this plant continue to keep growing taller and wider and still produce pistils on a 12/12 ? I’m sure it shall...Though will it still produce buds in the long run, or have I messed up the light cycle by starting it on a 12/12 cycle?
I think I’ve Sussed how much water to give it-by now, last week it’s been getting 1 litre every two to three days, plus I’ve been checking top soil with my finger up to first knuckle to see how moist or dry it has become. Last two days I’ve seen a slight trickle pour out the bottom of pot. I’ve got one or two shoots sticking out the bottom of the pot, and what with the daily new sprouting of pistils and Laterals I’m certain it’s a very healthy plant.
In the morning times when I remove top pots the plant has drops of water on its leaves too. Condensation. Is this a good thing at this stage? Before I place into direct sun I first shake this water from the leaves so the sun does not burn it. Is that ok?
Plus, I have a small bottle of tomato feed liquid, ( though I have not come to use yet) and I’ve read up so many times that it helps with the flowering stage as constantly watering could drain the soil of its nutrients. Somewhere I read that adding 1teaspoon of tomato feed to 2litres of ph6.5 water is sufficient to help the blooming?
As I said at beginning of this letter, I’m so sorry for it being so long. I just so want, no I so need to get some rewards from this plant that I simply cannot mess it up.
Thank you so much for reading this and I’ll appreciate any and every response I get.
