Greetings peeps, after a couple harvests a few years ago, Im back at it.
Specs
6x5 closet
1000 watt
Soul
Hesi nutrients
Cal mag
34 seedlings
20 cheese
14 ak 47

Ok, heres my deal
Im a week into seedling
They ALL sprouted, which I didnt expect...and in another week..im coming out of the closet...lol

My temps are running
87 to 90 with RH at 40...
My last grow was a 600 watt and the heat was easier to handle.
I have it vented with a blower fan out through roof...

But my question is....
Is this too fucking hot???
They seem perky, no curl, standing straight up like good lil soldiers...
Will they be alright for another 7 to 10 days.

After I replant out of cups into 3 gallon pots...im going to put them in the main bedroom, hook up another 1000 watt lighy, both vented into attic...17 under each light...

But Im wondering...is 88 too fucling hott?

Why is the beginning of the grow always so stressful...and expensive...fuck.

Thanks guys
SMELL

I recon they're ok 88° ain't gunna mash em, they maybe slightly slower to grow but shouldn't kill them.

My outdoor seedlings are happy. It's 95°F here today and was 98°F yesterday.

Do you have a dimmable ballast for your HPS? You can always turn it down if so, young plants shouldn't need 1000W of juice straight away.

I'm finding the end way more stressful than the beginning. All that time, money and energy already spent, and things can still go wrong. A quick colonisation by spider mites or bud rot can ruin it all!

Here's some more info:

https://www.growweedeasy.com/temperature#seedling-and-vegetative-stage

Seedling & Vegetative Stage

Preference: Comfortable Room Temperature or Slightly Warmer 70-85°F (20-30°C) – Avoid low humidity

Young seedlings tend to grow faster with relatively high humidity and warmer temps, but as the plant gets older, it flourishes even if temps and humidity drop a bit.

A cannabis plant’s ability to withstand drier and colder conditions tends to increase as the plant gets older. Outdoor-grown plants tend to be much tougher about temperature fluctuations than indoor plants.

It’s good to aim for a temperature of 70-85°F (20-30°C), during the vegetative stage while trying to give plants slightly cooler temps during the dark period than during the light period.

Slightly cooler night temps (that stay within the specified range) tend to promote the fastest and healthiest vegetative growing for cannabis plants.

Aw man Thanks for the info.
Ive done some research.
85 seems to be fine. I just transplanted from seedling to one gallon pots...13 days..almost root bound! Tons of beautiful roots.

I had no idea you could reduce to 600 on a 1000 watt vivosun light. Ive got the mh bulb in...exhausting out the ceiling...but next run i will def reduce to 600 for heat issues.

The girls pretty much take up 5x5 in their new pots. 32 of them. Another 3 weeks of veg in closet..im bringing them into main room...and hooking up my other 1000...14 under each 1000.

Heres some pics after transplantIMG_20190704_083325.jpg IMG_20190704_083325.jpg IMG_20190704_083325.jpg IMG_20190704_083325.jpg IMG_20190704_110849.jpg

Metal halide is not helping you. Far less light delivered per watt as HPS. Cannabis grows on the equator just fine. However warmer growing environments indoors or out make sativas a better choice.

What happens when you put that thermometer on the wall out of direct light? Whats it read then?

I have no idea what you are going to do with that many plants indoors?
16 under each 1000 watt in a 14x12 room...should be just fine. I did 9 under a 600...worked well. Got a little over 2 oz off each plant.
Dont plan on letting them veg too long. Maybe 18 inches and Ill flip them. Not getting crazy with the manipulation either. Top them once, let the bitches grow. Not really into letting 4 plants grow for a year.

I dunno. MH to HPS worked great last time. old school..which I respect...but Ive been reading about straight hps...undecided.

Staying in the closet for most of veg...less heat from the MH...the girls are telling me theyre really happy...might switch to hps on my next grow with identical strains and conditions for the true test

Is this the important reading?
Yeah its the correct way to read air temps by removing the light radiation that otherwise can give a misleading result and lead someone to think they are running hotter than they really are.

Plants tolerance to radiant heat is far higher than to warm air temps, in some strains they can take radiant temps of close to 50 degrees C.

Often folks find they are actually 5 degrees cooler than they thought but it depends on how well the air is mixed from top to bottom too.

Try it, I bet you go back to using MH for veg. Far better node spacing and thus end yield.

That makes sense...ill stick the meter off to the side...see what it says. Ive got a box fan pulling ac air from the main room a couple feet away, and the exhaust is pulling the light heat pretty good...turned down my ac to 70 in the house. Temp is reading 84 and node spacing is TIGHT and theyre stunning little bitches. My girl is walking around with a sweater on and under a blanket watching tv bitching how cold it is...lmfao.
Shell shut her hole when harvest comes and we dont have to buy 250 ounces and her car payment is paid for the year.

Tour the giant professional grows here. 26,000 square feet and up under light. All HPS.
Yeah, Ive watched alot of youtube videos of the big grows...I do the 24 hr veg...but I have a feeling they use hps for the entire cycle due to the pain in the ass it takes to change all those bulbs. Ive read MH simulates springsummer and HPS simulates Fall. Im not really concerned about the dif in light output, with 1000 watt in a 5x6 area...theyre getting plenty of light.
My only real concern is the temp when I pull them into the main room and add another 1000
Hoping itll stay about 75. I know its about 70 in there regularly...if I have to Im going to pull my guest bathroom hvac and pop it into the floor of my main room.
Should be fine
