Hi folks, newbie here.
Just wondering how many led lights I'll need for a 5foot X 9foot area. Using 400watt or 500watt lights.
Cheers

It depends on the light, lots of cheap lights might say "400w" and be anywhere from 100-250 true watts.
Look at the power draw of the unit.
If its cheap blurple aim for 50w per square foot, if its highly efficient white light aim for 30w per square foot.
If its a blurple look at the shape of it. If its rectangle it will cover a rectangle.

Cool bananas, I'm looking at rectangular ones with the same thoughts of running 3 down each side. Was just a bit concerned about the penetration depth everyone keeps talking about. Trying to work out if the burple ones are better or the T8 led 4 foot globes.

Thank you very much for your help.
If you are going to go with LED, HLG Quantum Boards (and all the HLG products actually) are top notch. Excellent build quality, super high efficiency components, and most importantly, results. I'm 6 runs deep with my HLG lights and i could not be happier. @Stephenj37826 and @robincnn have built something really special and their commitment to their costumers shows in everything they do.
