Flipping right from seed

Hello friends , My oldest son and I were checking out some vids last night on flipping
to 12 / 12 right from seed . Getting a quick turnaround , not as much but from the vids we watched,
Its very attainable and some decent sized little plants with ice buds ,

Has anyone here tried it ? Perspective , advice , issues ?
thanx !

I tried it. It worked very well for SOG(sea of green). I think I had them under 2x 400w hps and 1x 400w MH. So 1200w total

I had the plants packed in next to each other and I didn’t top them.

They didn’t branch out much and every plant grew one fat kola ranging from 14-30 grams dried, but most were closer to an ounce dried each.

I had the plants crammed in 2 per square foot. 36 plants in a 3x6 foot area. Got about 2 pounds dried.

It’s strain dependent as well. Not all strains are gonna make one big kola with minimal larf and branching.

The plants still grow for about 6 weeks till they begin flowering too. It takes that long for many strains to reach sexual maturity.
is the quality still as good ? I we like the idea of the quicker turn around , and willing to accept 1 cola per , 2 lbs. isn't nothing to sneeze at , lol. got a lot of extra , G6 seeds to try it with , while my new babies veg . ,

The quality depends on the genetics, and it isn’t affected.

The plant still grows for 6 weeks or so till it reaches sexual maturity, then they stretch and flower. As long as you flower for the full cycle the plant requires, the quality will not be affected

Some strains work better doing 12/12 from seed. I've done it. I typically get an ounce per plant. One big bud. Indica's work better than sativa's for this method of growing.
ya , thats what we were thinking , just deciding on what size container , some I seen were in solo cups .

I just grew out two sativa dom strains, and put them into flower after three weeks, which was still too early... The buds never got dense and were still fluffy after 13 weeks of flower... BUT, the clones I took of them are doing so much better in flower - I suppose because they weren't mature enough to flower when I flipped. I mean a big difference too... So yeah some strains may not work so good for this. I would say you should get a quick flowering strain if that's what you're going for... I grow Ayahuasca Purple and it's passable at seven weeks (but I go 8.5 to 9)... But there are strains out there which will flower in 7-8 in the right conditions... I used to want to do this too, b

What size pots are you using when you do this? Do you transplant or just plant the seed and let it roll?

1.26 gpw from seed? Damn.

It was 1200w total, I threw a 400w metal halide in with the two 400w hps lamps. So closer to 0.75 gpw.

But in all honesty, I wonder if I needed the extra 400w coverage. It felt like overkill to have three lamps in a 3x6 area.

Still a decent pull for my first time trying 12/12 from seed

My take on it is this...

It takes 3-4 weeks minimum to mature enough to even start trying to flower. If you are doing it to try and speed up the grow, it really doesn't so you might as well take advantage of those 3-4 weeks and give them as much light as possible.

If you are just wanting to have a bunch of different strains in your grow and trying to manage size, then there is a place for 12/12 from seed.

yes , trying different strains to see which we ones we want to continue to rock , we were talking last night ,
about vegging for a couple of weeks then flip , exploring the options thing ,,,
