Ok, I was showing Mrs. Perm all of my hard work on this light and right before I flipped the switch I noticed that I have a phantom draw somewhere. Good thing is that the light timers kill the power, and most lights don't have a switch anyway.
Before you flipped the switch on or off? It's probably capacitors in the drivers discharging after power off. It's quite common and happens with all sorts of electronics.

Does it go dark if shut off by the timer rather than the switch on the light?

youre right guys.
Was thinking the same, but didnt want to stress your budget or time further.

A nice PAR Meter would be a handy tool for you.

I have a similar to this lux meter below, workin ok, bad is the integrated sensor, but with the min/max reading i could deal with it (just using white leds so far!)

https://www.amazon.com/PEAKMETER-PM6612L-Digital-40-segment-Automatic/dp/B077BP3J8D/ref=sr_1_11_sspa?keywords=lux+meter&qid=1563572805&s=gateway&sr=8-11-spons&psc=1

i never saw one using this for our purpose
https://www.amazon.com/SENEYE-Reef-Aquarium-Monitor-Meter/dp/B005HR11W2

read mixed reviews in some reef forums, but they have a little other needs.
Read somewhere that the PAR reading should be quite precise.

I actually just went out and looked at them. They have been off for over four hours and there is no glow. It must have been residual in the caps.
Thanks guys.

You said full price whether that is true or not I don't know I'm not talking about the alphas just saying if you spend a few thousand on lights 500 for a nice light meter isn't too bad
Do you have a grow journal? Really Jonesing to learn your ways bro :peace:

the pretty much standard in "the" industry and probably best for camparability :)
for my little needs so far too much investment.
The Seneye would fit better, while not nice to use, hm.
Some review i found
https://reefhacks.com/seneye-reef-review/
the manufacturer has not even a spec sheet on his page, nor a description in which range said sensor operates and how exact it is. why exactly are you suggesting this POS?

cause there arent many options beside the Apogee, which is of course a nice one.
According to the linked review above the Seneye should perform good.

"
Perhaps the most notable way to comprehend the power of Seneye Reef is to compare it against one of the leading PAR meters. Apogee PAR readers are universally respected as a powerful and accurate device. However, it’s also incredibly expensive. Costing between $375 and $500, you’d think it’d outperform the Seneye Reef? Well, you’d be wrong.

Seneye Reef delivers multiple readouts (LUX, Kelvin, CIE Matrix, PUR Approximation), which offers exceptional understanding and control over tank lighting. Compared to Apogee, which only delivers two readouts, Seneye Reef not only delivers more data, but its data can be more accurate than Apogee. The BulkReefSupply team finds the Seneye Reef is closer to the performance off the exceptionally costly LI-COR system.

My favorite part? The entire Seneye Reef system costs $199. Ultimately, for roughly half the price of the leading competitor, you get a more complex PAR meter and dynamic monitoring capabilities."

Of course thats just from the review, i have no own experiences with it.
The PH readout should be crap and is expensive, also i dont like that you need a PC for it.

This vid shows the capabilities, the meassured range itself is ok, precission probably good enough for home use.

Sorry I don't grow lettuce
No one is talking about lettuce moron. I am of the firm belief that you don't grow anything. Isn't a web community supposed to be about the sharing of information and the real big one being that it is the 20th century is that we can share pics too! Let's see what you got, your garden is sure to make our mouths water, just as yours does at the though of greengenes non-paying-advertiser ass. I am almost certain you are here to plug his company every chance you get. Well bad news bucko, many of us have been around on this forum long enough to see through your bullshit. It's like you just troll stroll around in the shadows waiting for a new member to ask something about led or purchasing a light and then bam - there you are with your greengenes plug.
So, if you want to earn some credibility get out there in your garden (if you actually have one) and show us a glimpse of what you've been doing and stop clogging up other peoples threads with your nonsense!

Shit he should just get an apogee it costs a fraction of those hgl lights
I thought they were well under $2 a watt?
The XB400 is a monster. Its like 36x32 or something. Way bigger then conventional QB's. I had no idea till just recently that the HLG 550 & RSpec were so small. I envisioned something bigger like the Elite Proto im about to put to work.
Remote custom drivers, no hotspot.
She'll be covering a 4x4 with 400w instead of 550 or 675. Custom lenses may make this even more doable.
Idk guys, so far its looking like a buyer would get quite a bit for their money Now then in previous models when the buss seamed to be running on autopilot with old tech for a long time. Thats the past tho, so lets focus on the now so there's less spreading false info around.
