The latest crop was chopped this past Saturday and are going to be trimmed and put into their curing jars tomorrow evening. Even the LARF are pretty good sized and full of crystals! I do like these two strains for both the ease of their cultivation and the ass kicking of their smoke.

The bloom tent sat empty for the past three days. And as we know, a bloom tent must not sit unoccupied.

Ergo … the next set of Mani-SCROG's went under the net today. Woven and gently pruned to fit in the 2 x 4 space. But it kind of looks like they are toast, doesn't it?

If these girls can survive their experience from cloning, they can survive being woven into a SCROG net. I cloned them late on a Thursday afternoon and had them under a 23W CFL on our kitchen counter. I went off to a charity golf tournament that Saturday morning and the love of my life moved them to clean that part of the counter. She left them in the new spot not thinking anything was wrong.

It turns out those little darlings were bathed for roughly 9 hours in the brilliant late May sun. When I returned home, I saw six dark green hunks of boiled spinach slumped over six Rockwool cubes. I immediately moved them to another location that is devoid of natures great big grow light and decided that I would take new cuttings the next day after the hangover wore off.

Later the next afternoon, with cutting implements in hand, I could see the leaves losing that dark green colour. I decided to not take new cuttings and see if these fricasseed things would come back. 48 hours later, they started to lift up off the bottom. Less than 1 week later, they looked like my original cuttings. 10 days later, all of them rooted. You can see what happened to the two that I kept ...

I think Webster's needs to re-define the word "tough" - just put the picture of a cannabis clone.

I realise you might have some experience mate but that scrog is useless, as are most scrogs.

At least it looks tight.

I think there is way too many people just stretching a bit of string over their plants and thinking that's a scrog. It isn't.

It's a stressful thing for the ladies, not a gimmic.

And no, I'd put those plants in the trash.

I have seen pics of "SCROG nets" that are nothing more than support trellises - no lateral spread of the branches. These branches are woven through the mesh to grow them sideways, fill the 2 x 4 area and produce as many potential bud sites as possible. 114 tops on the last grow.

I do have a few empty spots to fill in before the flip.

... I'd put those plants in the trash ...

They were woven through just scant minutes before that picture was taken so it looks like they've been sat on. I truly do appreciate your advice Moody. But I'll wait until I harvest about 14 oz. (as I have done the last two SCROG's) - then I'll trash 'em.

I agree many don't scrog correctly but ultimately it is all about an even canopy

Every grow should be seen as an experiment and as an experience. Each grow and often each plant in a grow offers a learning experience. If you get good bud you did it right. Then you can focus on doing it differently or better. Keep going.

I wouldn't bother with any more than 15 bud sites per plant. Any more than that is a waste.

14oz from 3 plants isn't exactly something to shout home about.

I'd be pissed if I didn't get 8 per plant, and expect 10.

Just my opinion mate. Do what you want.

This is good advice. Too many bud sites gets you a shitload of mids. IME.

I'm doing my first ScROG grow, and from what I've read I thought you were supposed to aim for 1 budsite per square? If that is sort of the given standard for ScROGging, and given how many squares my screen has, I would be going for closer to 30 bud sites (1 per 2x2inch square)? My apologies StareCase not trying to hijack your thread buddy, I just got confused when I read MoodyShoes response above about aiming for 15 budsites.
As for your plants StareCase, all I see in your pics is a plant that looks freshly stretched out under a ScROG...I mean, I'm not seeing any clear or obvious damage to the plant, but maybe I've missed something.

I'd do maybe 20 sites on a 2ft by 2ft scrog.

To get a plant to fill that space I'd veg for 6 weeks.

It doesn't matter how many squares there are, you can adjust that yourself.

Also, don't use a scrog net. They're useless. You want a screen that's as tight as you can make it. Think of a wooden tennis racquet with string. The scrog should stress the plants, not just lay on top of them.

I use a metal scrog screen instead of a trellis...where I'm in standalone DWC, using a regular net that covers all the plants isn't really applicable. Instead, I have a 2x2ft scrog screen with 2x2inch squares overtop each 5 gallon bucket, and just added a second screen with bigger squares to support the taller colas later in flower. Moody, if you happen to find the time, would you be willing to have a look at my current grow (linked in my sig) and tell me where I need to improve? I have close to 30 bud sites on each 2x2ft scrog, so at least I'm in the right neighborhood I suppose...anyhow, don't wanna hijack this thread, apologies OP!

I use one of the expandable baby gates you put across the stairs. Works like a charm. Small holes and the frame is durable. Get them at garage sales.

That does sound perfect Harley, the baby gates I have here at my house only has 1x1 inch holes though...maybe 1.5x1.5. I'll have to keep an eye out for some with bigger squares.
