Quick question... im reading about any dry spots in soil will kill your microbes. So do you guys allow the top inch of your soil to dry out like rule of thumb says? Or because your trying to preserve microbe life is your soil constantly moist? Ive always let my top 2” dry out before i feed but if thats where alot of your microbes are i cant see letting it dry up.

I let the top inch dry which I shouldn't do that , but ... dont see what it really hurts cause the lower level should be wet ....but again im soon gonna put straw down as a top dress ...

So its better to keep everything moist?
When establishing roots I let soil dry more but once established and in the final pot I try not to let it go too far. Like bubba said, its a fine line. Its kind of a feel thing, but a straw mulch layer really helps!! It also tames the bone gum. If your bone gum is super thick, its prolly best you fork it up and hit it with bokashi and a TopD......it will help your feeds penetrate the rootball better and help avoid dry pockets.

6.2 too low...... 7.1 not bad, soil is buffering, just means she prolly ready for more, sooner. Stick with 6.4
When soil is buffering like this, its doing what its supposed to do!! When you hear growers say to ride the drift, this is what they mean.......you feed at 6.3 - 6.4 and as the soil buffers up it hits different sweet spots for optimal uptake of different nutrients & minerals!! In our case its calcium delivery So the low to mid 6's are more suited to calcium carbonate= kraken & Oly up, then as it buffers up thru the mid to upper 6's other forms of calcium hit their peak= the calcium phosphate Herc and Demeters. So your in a good spot.....and your plants prolly telling it all!! It's also a spot where they become even more addicted to Nectar so keep it up and track those slurries!!

Ok. I have been feeding 6.4 there whole life and i saw the whole ride the drift thing it said 6.2-6.8. So i fed at 6.6 last feed because it says to feed diff ph evertime. Do you guys think to just bounce back and for between 6.3-6.4.

So pumped about slurries being in range tho. This is my plan. Let me know what you think. Im going to feed another 1500ppms tomorrow morning. Let it go 2 days check slurry if its in good range hit em with some reg feed and 6-1 bk. Slurry again and if all is good flip them girls. Then go to work!!!

You shouldn't have to go as low as 6.3, but when soil is buffering you can pretty much peg 6.4 and let the soil do the rest. Once in bloom you can start sliding up.......slurry gonna guide it
