I was raised in west Texas in a Southern Baptist church. No black or Hispanic came to our church. This one hellfire and brimstone Bible thumping preacher described how wonderful it was going to be when Christ returned. The dead shall rise again and even the seas would give up their dead. Then Jesus and all His followers, including all those formerly dead folks, would rise to Heaven and sit by the right hand of God. Now if that didn’t get you excited enough to join up he went on to describe Hell and everyone who you expect to run into if you went there. Your choice. Submit to the Lord and tithe. That 10% was supposed to come off the gross too by the way. Then no dancing, no smoking, no cussing or fucking and you were good to go to Heaven with all these boring fuckers sitting around you today.

I chose Hell. The people going are cooler.

Memories. I understand the human need for religion, I am just not a fan on the way religion has tried to appropriate being a good person.
