Coco Loco

Anyone use Coco loco. I've used it in the past mixed with straight coco and perilite. But I've never used more than 50 percent coco loco. I am tired of using brick coco as my transplants have been terrible lately and I think it's cause I don't have room or means to rinse that much coco. So I was thinking of just using straight coco loco or maybe add a bit more perilite.

I do however have a few concerns the first one being that I use pH perfect nutes that come out at 5.8-5.9. Coco loco is recommended to be in 6.3-6.5 range but I do have mother's in it and they appear to not need fed any different than the ones in coco. I don't want to change nutes as I have a bunch of these and am always happy with results. Plus been using it so long it's just really simple.

Next concern is yield I run 3 gallon pots and need 3+ zips per 3 gallon pot. In coco I seem to always hit 1 zip per gallon of media and sometimes a little more. For anyone who uses coco loco is that reasonable expectation.

Anyways just looking for something a little more simple than expanding and rinsing a ton of Coco and like the idea of being able to just add it to the pot and go. Also they have this local which is another reason I'm considering this.

I do not like growing in dirt so any Coco recommendations are welcome but I won't be switching to soil or peat based medium.

If you buy good coco bricks you don't need to rinse them. I use Botanicare 5 kg bricks. I don't rinse I just rehydrate with a mild nutrient solution and plant. It's already double washed and buffered. It's the same stuff they sell loose in the bags it's just been compressed into bricks.

Years ago rinsing was always required but as coco becomes more popular many companies are processing it to be used right out of the bag or rehydrated.

I have roots organic coco bricks already, but I notice the first few weeks of watering I'll get some reddish brown run off from what I assume are particles of Coco that are more like dust, I was thinking and hoping for better results transplanting if rinsed that out. I dunno I'm being lazy this time as I used to run perpetual but now have a full room instead of tents and it's a lot of work messing with expanding that many blocks. I have in the past had better results transplanting with some coco loco mixed in. So my tentative plan is go to the hydro store tonight and pick up bags of something that will be easy to use. At this point thinking half coco loco half bagged and rinsed coco and then add some more perilite.

I really wanted to try char coir or riococo but my local store doesn't have any atm. What do you feed ppm wise during veg maybe I'm just not hitting them hard enough at first.

Didn't see your comment til now not sure how I missed it. They don't have bontanicare, I dunno i got some.girl on the phone when I called my regular guy wasn't there. It's still a drive to the "local" store so I guess I'll just see what they got when I get there. I know they have royal gold but it's got compost in it I believe.
I know they don't have canna either. So I guess I'll see what they have. I can say that this coco loco I have my mothers in acts just like coco as far as being able to keep plants in small pots I've had my mothers in it for a while in 5 inch pots and they get fairly big before I chop them back.

Just talked to my regular guy at the store they have bio bizz coco that's loose and bagged so gonna get some of that and maybe some coco loco to mix in to help with transplant

I am getting ready to transplant a seedling into straight coco loco at the recommendation of the local hydroponic store owner. I'll report back with results if anyone is interested.
