So instead of name calling show it, maybe I wasnt necessarily talking about HLG, both of the owners I know. Maybe they have been brought in house which is exactly what I am talking about with quality control and IP loss. Let the grown ups talk.
I am a grown up. You were incorrect and I pointed it out. Asshole is pretty mild, particularly when your very first post directed at me was more than a little condescending, but if it bugged you then I apologize.

Was that done because of qc/qa issues? And you could at least put a timeline on that comment, since some might construe that to mean, since production of the first boards, which wouldnt be the case?

Is there any hope of fighting copycats still using Samsung in general? International IP seems rarely enforecable, we are on the cusp in the seed game too...
Yeah the IP thing is pretty tough. We are taking extra steps with upcoming products to combat those issues. Yes the first boards mainly the 304 where built in China. We then switched to US production on QB288 V1 which was around Aug 2016. Around March 2017 we introduced V2 with lm301b built by Samsung in South Korea. At that time top bin lm301b was only available through samsung production. November 2018 our production line in house came online. Samsung still builds boards for us as well. Our decision to put in the Panasonic line was fueled by mostly product shortages and creating jobs in our community. We hired 3 more local people this week. Since Robin and I started HLG we have strived to create more jobs locally. It can be tough to compete with countries such as China. The Chinese government subsidizes lots of electronic manufacturing. These manufacturers can actually sell at a small loss and the government still gives them 20% of the sale price. Thats why warranty is such a pain with them. Unfortunately here in the US this is opposite for us. We are being hit with a 25% tariff on the LEDs on top of a federal tax , local business taxes, insurance and corporate tax. We go as far as to pay extra for American processed Aluminium on the HLG 550.

What are you seeing in the seed business? It's so disheartening to see someone put in so much work to just be ripped off by some jerk just trying to make a quick buck.

In the United States the government subsidizes corn (ethanol) and of course big oil. Call yourself a church and no income tax or even income reporting requirements.

Sales tax on food and medicine, Hell Yeah!

Go back to your notes and find one or two strains that you think did the best and with what regimen. Run em, then do a second run witn half nutrients.
I did exactly this. I came in light and I was hitting deficiencies. Went back to a year ago in my notes when my grows were doing good. Pulled that recipe and went with it. Snapped right out of it.

It is going to cost a lot of money to fight that. How much to pay to have them stop selling it, only to have another pop up and start the whole process over again. Fighting costs money.

Unfortunate but true. Too bad the bodies that make the laws regarding TM and IP don't seem to do a whole lot to ensure enforcement internationally. The result being that the burden falls to the business owners. When that happens it is a pretty good bet that the company with the deeper pockets goes home with the goodies.

I think I missed something. Is this a different run or did you switch up your lighting?
Just a lil somethin threw together cuz i couldn't bring myself to cut down the plants. Lost my veg room to it luke a mo-mo.
Wanted to do HGL Alphas around & in middle of the QB but they all blew for now so i used a buddies Truth Lightings x2 , 300w, which i like the spectrum & how its made aside from way to much blue for proper flowering.
The other is under the SE-450 & Usually cannot grow it under white led. Shes a bitch & last run.
Testing Dyna-Grow on these. Bouggt it before reading feeding chart. That i highly disagree with & feel the recipe is flawed in the way its made. Who the F in their right mind feeds max dose of silica every feed from day one to flush? They use it as a ph up & it makes me upset so i go 1/2 the silica amount & the rest ph up for now May use another product to even out the ph up as well if i can manage safely & productively.
Wanted to bust out the QB 90CRI Nichias. Its dimmed to 256w. Truths are 1/2 power for now.
No AC in this room mind you.

Just kidding. Kind of...

They don't work anymore? Mine are chugging along like new.

They say you can use it as a pH up if you want to. They sell pH up. Also you should come in at half of any schedule when starting new. I can give you my recipe if you want it.

Oh i know exactly what it costs, its subject brought up many times before and always sidestepped. It was a rhetortical question, too, should have been more clear....

my bad

Edit: Is it too late to say that my answer was rhetorical, too?
All good not trying to degrade your answer. That was a big component of why child called me asshole over IP THEFT, and I know HLG brought things stateside after IP THEFT, not before and not because it benefitted the american worker, because it was cheaper. In the long run, relying on Chinese is proving to be ill advised at the very least. Congrats to HLG moving in house, but it was a money saving move not a feel good move. In fact most of the manufacturing of LED substrate is still in China, with some done in Japan, Taiwan and Korea still and I guess I am still an asshole for pointing out what someone could easily reasearch. Derp.

In seeds, we are seeing broad utility patents on thinks like plants that produce cbd, cbg, etc....big ambiguous terms that could freeze out many....then ther us the issue of people not being able to grow their own created strains because of non existent trademark right thru Pvp and Pvr's, its a joke, fudged up more by government.

The china thing bums me out, its the catch 22 of a lifetime. They learned from us and beating us at our game. I think a Cannabis Green Deal is needed to open up sun drenched territories and keep corporate farmers at bay. But that would ultimately hurt indoor, some would be for sacrifice, some wouldnt.

Also it could be a coincidence that when HLG first started getting there gear from China,,there were several custom builders here, who were basically undercut, but providing local jobs no doubt. So we actually have a net decrease in job availability.
Maybe thats snark, but it sounds all politician to me.....

Yeah, could you pls share recipe? Thnx!
From what im seeing the Dyna causes a major ph drop in the media. Last night i ran about 8 gall of 7.0 tap through one pot & it was still coming out 5.4ish . topped it off with a 7.0 feed of another 7 gall with including runoff n still was only 5.7ish. .
Silica all the time? Already im seeing the neg effects caused by to much silica & im using less then half the recommended amount. The rest is ph up.
I bought it for the high p, low K & saw the MagPro later on. Then, made a mix with just the Grow base as i bought only the Grow & Bloom at first thinking that's all there was. Well, ph was super low. That was the first bad sign, then i saw the chart & almost puked. I know i should've looked into that first but thought it was a one part feed.
Also, my ppm's are coming in way lower then the chart says they should be when following the schedule.
Main concern being the mighty ph drop in the CoCo that has me feeding 6.5-7 now.
Idk man, is this company new or something? Anyone actually harvest DynaGro weed & smoke it with a smoke report? Cuz i couldn't imagine it could possible taste good loaded with silica/silicone.
Whats your secret & apologies ahead of time for sounding like I'm knocking a product you endorse. It just doesn't make sense to me. My siliconing is done very little in veg & not past week 3 of flower unless in loww dose.

COB light builders will find diy to be a major factor. Some will eventually cater to that market. Top quality 3w and 5w lights make no less light or flowers than they ever did. COBs have taken dozens of connections and reduced it to a few with quick connects on some. A machine shop is not needed to make an effective light. No specialized equipment. More light also but this is rapid change in many areas. But, the best of the last non-cob lights still kill it.
