Finding a good hydro store is like finding a good garage to get your car fixed and doing your research before you show up at either place can save you plenty. Time and money both.

I'm still paranoid about buying anything grow related online so hope my favorite hydro store in Edmonton stays open. Even if I'm just shopping for regular stuff when I go to the city I go get cash from the bank and do all my shopping with the coin of the realm. Why give these guys free data about my shopping habits.

Even tho services like PayPal, Amazon etc don't actively rat you out to popo they don't ask for a warrant if popo wants to see what you've been buying. You cannot help but leave digital tracks that are easy for the cops to sniff out if they decide to start investigating you. Recent breakup with a vindictive partner? Pissed off buyer of your goods? Nosy neighbours? Doesn't take much for the cops to start peaking into your activities to see if they can garner enough info to go get a warrant to toss your house if someone drops a dime on you.

I've been getting my medical for pot for a few years now but never registered with Hellth Canaduh to grow legally. With a 12g/day limit I could be legal for 59 plants indoors but don't want to be on the government hit list should a new administration decide to change the laws. I have no doubt that if the Cons get in this Oct. they may try to repeal the legal 4 plant recreational limit to help out their corporate bum-buddies that are the prime investors in the Legal Provider world created by Herr Harper and supported by our current dictator, Justin (Trudy) Trudeau.

Even if you're 100% legal keeping your yap shut is still the best way to be. Rippers got no rules to follow at all.

I used to live 1 mile from the border in BC and back about '75 actually grew pot on the US side in the woods. Nothing but a fallen down barbed wire fence so I'd load a 10gal jug of water mixed with nutes on the back of a Honda 90 bush bike and just drive it down to the grow site. Until one day a cop drove over the hill just as I was getting thru the ditch and I had to sneak my way back while he stood watch where I crossed. No doubt in contact with the US border control who would have sicced the dogs on me if I hung around waiting for the cop to leave. Deer got that crop anyway so enough of that crap. lol

We used to run across the line twice a week just to buy dairy a few miles south of the border and smuggle back cigarettes etc I'd buy in Lyden, WA. Top up with cheap gas at the duty free on the way back. That was in the 80s so security was lax compared to now. Now I'd need a passport to cross the line so screw that.

The good old days are long gone more's the pity.

I don't know if Canaduh would deny you entry for DUIs.

I got one in '93 and went across the border many times after getting my license back with no problems. I've never even been charged with a drug offense so no problems there.

How recent to your trip were they? I told them at US customs that I had the DUI because if they catch you lying you for sure won't get in and they checked and let me go thru.

Back about '83 me and a couple buddies shot down to get beer on a Sunday and my buddy Mike had a pot possession conviction. We all said no about convictions then they ran our IDs and wouldn't let him thru so he walked back to the Canaduh customs and waited for us while we went and got beer and gas.

Another time I went down with a buddy in his car and we smoked a joint on the way. Stopped before the border to stash our pot and shit but this idiot had a little ash tray with roaches, roach clip and papers. They pulled us over and hauled us inside for a strip search and the 3rd degree. Let us go and he headed straight out the door and while I was walking past the desk there was a tray with all the crap in it. I kinda looked sideways at the border dude and he looked at me and gave me a little nod so I scooped it up and walked out. Little nervous coming back but they didn't check us on our side. Fuck I gave him hell for being so stupid. He cried like a f'n baby while we were in custody too.

We used to drive across with two vehicles and leave one down there then go down the next day and could score duty free stuff on the way back. Just buy gas the first day so you have proof that you were down for 48 hours technically and you could buy a lot of booze and smokes etc duty free.

Out of the couple hundred times I went down over the years I only got pulled over for inspection 3 times. Had smokes or more under the back seat and they never found anything. Used to score pot from my bro-in-law down in Bellingham and bring it back. Always a little nervous when I had a pound on me but cool as a cucumber when dealing with cops or customs.

They won’t even let you drive through Canada to Alaska with any kind of record. I’ve flown south twice to drive people’s goods up here while they flew after being stopped at the border. Move up here. Nobody gives a shit about anything. You have to be pretty independent unless you live in a city here. There’s only one real city here anyway. I avoid it like the plague unless I go to see my daughter and granddaughter.

I live in a region with zero taxes, no zoning at all so build whatever you want on your land. I have never heard of anyone getting busted growing save for one guy who kind of pushed it with blatant activism and almost 300 plants. This in the entire state. The cops just don’t care. Unless you are an idiot.

I did have to kill a bear less than 25’ from my front door last year. He’d been injured somehow and was hurting and pissed off. Fired a couple of rounds to scare him off but he turned around and came back. He was coming over an old doghouse and I shot him right between the eyes when he wouldn’t lift his head so I could shoot something softer. Bullet hit his skull and went over it between the hide and the bone. Exited just above his tail. Didn’t kill him. He just looked like he’d been hit with Thor’s hammer.

He staggered off while I’m trying to contain the dogs in the cabin. Into the woods. Had to go find him and finish the poor guy off.

Despite numerous calls no cop or game trooper ever showed.
