Notorious CAFE Pot Shop Just Got Approved To Be Toronto's Newest ...
A former CAFE location at 104 Harbord just won the Ontario Cannabis Retail Lottery along with 42 others, including 13 Toronto locations. The previously illegal dispensary was raided several times before finally closing down in the most dramatic way. Ironically, a CAFE Toronto
just won the Ontario Cannabis Lottery and has the right to apply for a retail license.

CAFE's illegal operations were shut down multiple times, by the police resorting to barricading the shops with huge concrete blocks. CAFE refused to quit, though, and decided to have a cannabis sidewalk sale outside their store, where arrests were made.

People have some interesting opinions about the Ontario Cannabis Retail Lottery system that produced this outcome.

Pretty amazing what having the right connections can do for ya.
So they can sell weed legally after being busted for it but a medical patient can't grow their own medicine if they have been busted before.

Cheers :)

I'm pretty sure we'll see something happen on this. The fact they won the lottery doesn't automatically guarantee them approval. I for one would like to see them get approved, at least they know what they are doing, and it's a foot in the door for others. Sadly, I doubt that's gonna happen

You'd wonder why they want the store at all. They can say bye bye to EVERYTHING they sell now. Unless they want to try that. Then they'd lose this deal.
They will be just another over priced floor sweepings outlet. With the same shit the nearest store has.
I wouldn't want that.
All the cool stuff they may be selling now is bye bye-o.
They'll be just another franchised "pizza pizza " place.
Why would anyone be excited to basically shop in the same store everywhere. Oh well.....viva la BM

Not true! Anyone can grow their own regardless of criminal record. Only DG’s are barred from growing for other people, and only on drug related charges.
I know two different people who were refused to provide for themselves based on their criminal record. Both have previous trafficking charges and were told they could not qualify for HC approval because of it.

Cheers :)

Read the Reg’s! You cannot be refused by HC to grow your own because of ANY criminal charges...if growing strictly for yourself. I know convicted felons who grow their own meds. Those same folks could never DG or work for an LP...but they can most certainly and legally grow personal!

I and they are aware of the reg's. HC has still refused them their license based on their trafficking charges. They have it in writing from HC. Both are now court cases.
The one guy they even quoted how big the bust he was involved with was. He was driving a dump truck with over 3 tons of hash and ended up doing a decade for it.

Cheers :)

Should be slam dunk in court! As quoted from the HC App...unless they were busted “while they were licensed to grow”...they cannot be refused.

Within the last 10 years:

• I have not been convicted, as an adult, of a sale, distribution or export offence that was committed while authorized to produce cannabis under Division II, Part 14 of the Cannabis Regulations.

• I have not been convicted, as an adult, of a designated cannabis offence that was committed while I was authorized to produce cannabis under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, other than under the former Marihuana Medical Access Regulations.

• I have not been convicted, as an adult, of a designated marihuana offence that was committed while authorized to produce marihuana under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, other than under the former Access to Medical Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations or by virtue of an injunction order issued by a court.

• I have not been convicted of an offence committed outside Canada that, if committed in Canada, would have constituted such an offence as described in the 3 bullets above.

Agreed it def does seem to be a pretty straight forward case in both cases. I still can't believe it even happened tbh. The one guy has colon cancer and has now spent over a year of his life fighting this.

Cheers :)

There's alot of fake news going on here, for what it's worth.
The address being used is what won the lottery, not CAFE themselves.
They can't sell any of the products they were selling before.

They essentially pulled a fast one - someone's cousin's brother's uncle put their name in the lottery with the CAFE address and happened to win.
They can still get rejected, but really it doesn't hurt anyone to let them open a legal store and force them to only sell the products that are taxed.

easy peasy
BUT why would you wanna be LABELLED MEDICAL..
Your INS will catch up with you ...
..WAIT IT OUT
There's absolutely ZERO reason to be medical now a day.
It will only see you PAY FOR IT...

back to the good ole DIY and STFU about it.. :)
