Trichomes not changing to amber after first appearing

Hi all.

I need some advice on my first harvest, especially about the trichomes. But a little history might help.

I have a 60cm x 120cm (2 x 4) tent with 2 plants of unknown genetics (it was a good smoke that I got about 8 seeds out of and thought it good enough to experiment with). Details are,

· variable speed exhaust fan/carbon filter

· humidity controller

· heater on a thermostat

· Exhale Co2 bag

· Oscillating fan (just enough to move the foliage)

· Growing in Coco/perlite

· Using Green Planet for the main nutes + Green Plant Massive and Vitathrive

· General hydroponics Diamond nectar, Flora nectar, Armor Si, Cyco Ryzo-Fuel, Cyco Zyme and Floramax Rezin-XL. Also used some Great White when mixing the Coco. CalMax as well.

Being my first grow, I experimented with LST, super-cropping and topping to see which would give the best results. Overall, I’m happy with the outcome.

My problem is that day 41 of flower started showing the first signs of amber trichomes on one of the main buds. By day 47 there was still no advance of trichomes to amber. Week 8, I started the flush. I am now at day 6 of flush and the amber trichomes still have not advanced at all and the buds are noticeably putting on weight. Run-off EC is about 0.6 and 1.0 for each of the plants.

I have been snipping of small pieces of the sugar leaves from the top and middle of the main buds.

I know with unknown genetics it is a crap-shoot, but my questions are;

1. Did I start the flush too early since the trichomes haven’t progressed and they are still putting on weight, and

2. Is it normal for the trichomes to show signs of amber but not progress for so long?

Conditions are steady at

Temps are 24c – 20c

Humidity 60% - 46%

.
Yes. and yes

This is a major problem of those who flush. How do u know when a plant is almost ripe unless u have grown it by clone twice? Feed it.

As a rule of thumb don't bother picking up a loupe until the vast majority of brown hairs are receding.

Triches age on leaves at different rates ... calyx as stated.
Plus look at various buds to “ judge “ doneness OVERALL not just the dominate colas.

What he said^^^ look at the top, middle and lower buds to be able to determine with accuracy what stage she is in. Usually top buds tend to mature first. You can tank me later noob bongsmilie

Thank you all for the advice. Glad I learnt that lesson early enough to mitigate the error. They are feeding again and looking and smelling amazing.
