Professionals here suggest 38”-40”. I have found this best. I run an air cooled 1000. I can get them closer but they stop being as frosty. I’ve been running them higher the last few grows and the yields don’t seem to suffer.

Exactly what i needed to hear! I figured as long as they didnt burn i could as close as i wanted:wall:.Thank you
You can get them much closer without seeing any burn. Especially air cooled. With cooltubes I like to stay in the 20-24" range. But like with most things with growing it is entirely set up, grower , genetics , etc dependent.
Best advice is trial and error until you learn to read what is happening with your plants.

Cheers :)

Exactly, everyone learns what's best for them.
For myself if the hood is more than 20-24 inches over the canopy I dont like the result, open hood or air cooled.
I've found many of the "rules" that work for some dont work at all for others.
It's very important to find what works best for you and your room through trial and error after starting with a good commonly followed set of parameters.

Since it's on a mover I'd tend to start higher as hotrod suggested and adjust if needed

Sorry for a "dumb" question.. But why would the light need to be higher when on a mover.i would think it could be closer on a mover.

Imo it would better let the light hit all the sides of the buds, and since it's a moving light it would keep more of the buds in the light at a time.

It's just a guess on my part that it would be more helpful. Your gonna just have to start somewhere an dial it in and generally it's better to start higher imo

As close as 18” in my opinion but depending on hood 24” to 30” might be better. For the raptors I use I found I can pull off 18” and have a healthy 4’ By 4’ coverage.
