Yep, back then the arm forces were segregated too, as was society, things change. Gun owner ship rates in Canada and the USA were comparable back then too, but America went nuts in the seventies and gun ownership rates sky rocketed, Canada took a more sensible approach to guns and it's reflected in our homicide rate, so policy matters. We don't have mass shootings on an almost daily basis and not too many white nationalist terrorist gun attacks.
