Advise on Gnat problem.

I don't know about watermelon but I don't see why not. Gnats like sugary fruits more than they do cannabis.

It does work. I have a bunch more trapped already. And as I said, this is a new method I found just yesterday and it actually works. The dumb bugs crawl in, eat, and are too stupid to crawl back out.

The only thing I don't like about it is the fact I didn't know about it sooner.

i gotta try this....so just put some fruit in like a little cup/container, and then put some cling wrap over it with some small holes poked in it? sounds to good to be true, but ima try it....and ima blame if ANYTHING goes wrong lmao, jk

im really interested in trying this method myself. they over ripe fruit doesnt cause any issues in the tent. it just collects gnats? what if you put in some watermelon pieces. do the same thing? im not trying to hijack the thread,...but since im dealing with the same thing, we can both benefit from this info. i'll bow out if op would rather me create my own thread. i actually did and got roasted by a red headed man with a wild perm

They literally cant survive this, unless your growing next to a compost pile. Hit the larvae and the flyers once or twice and that should be all you need indoor.

I like that attitude. That's cool. Well I just tried his idea with apples. I'll update with pics to see how its working. Here's a pic of my trap. I'm guessing it should look something like this and set it in between my plants.

Gnatrol for a soil drench, every 7-10 days. Gnatrol and Mosquito bits both use BTI to kill the larvae (who eat your roots). Yellow sticky traps, some gnat nix and a shop vac complete the arsenal (shop vac to suck the adults out of the air). Some soils come with fungus gnat eggs so I would pre-treat all soil with a gnatrol drench before adding seeds or plants.

for sure. hey to add to the fruit trap idea, google says to add some vinegar to the fruit container and a little dish soap. im guessing the dish soap is for smothering them and the vinegar is for extra scent to coax them bastards in

1. Apple Cider Vinegar Bottle Trap
   Remove cap from a bottle of apple cider vinegar and cover the opening with plastic wrap. Secure with a rubber band. Poke a hole in the plastic wrap with a small nail. Fruit flies will fly in but won’t be able to get out.
2. Beer Trap
   Pour about a half-cup of beer (old or fresh) in a mason jar with a lid. Hammer a couple of holes in the metal lid and secure. Fruit flies enjoy the beer then drown.
3. Wine Bottle Trap
   Leave a little wine in the bottom of a bottle and place on the counter. Fruit flies will fly in but the bottleneck prevents them from finding their way out.
4. Fresh Basil
   Fruit flies don’t like fresh basil so keep a potted herb on the counter to deter them. Or pluck a few of the leaves and place in the bottom of the fruit bowl.

   Fill a small bowl with apple cider vinegar and 2 drops liquid dish soap. Mix well and leave on the counter (away from pets). Fruit flies will be drawn to the bowl and meet their demise.

I use apple cider vinegar now and it works good...just not good enough

I'm gonna try that gnatrol and the sticky traps along with the vinegar...but will keep looking for the perfect combination

damn, that looks like it works good. i dont think i caught anything overnight with my beer trap or my apple trap. maybe i need to make the holes bigger. im going to use that vinegar idea. how long did it take to collect all those pests in there. i did douse my plants with jacks deadbug right before my lights went out (im just a couple days into flower. im going to stop spraying at the 2 week mark)
