Am I watering too much or the wrong way in coco?

So question.... I’m only in 1 gallon pots right now but I can’t figure out my watering. So currently I’m feeding my biggest girls 750 ppm. I don’t see signs of nute burn but my runoff was 1180ppm. Now here’s the thing my biggest plants take 2 days to dry out by the second day my pots are really light... now when I water them it’s take me just under a gollon to get run off ... when my run off occurs I’m getting like 1180 in ppms... so then I add more nutrients solution (lower ppm solution) as if I’m flushing her in a sense to get the runoff back within the 20 percent allowed.. by the time I’m done I’ve atleast gave them a gallon of water each.... am I doing something wrong? Am I letting the pots dry too much? Am I feeding too much..? Why do I have to add so much water to the 1 gallon pots to get the ppm down and is this much water bad ?

I’m running 60 percent humidity /750ppm 84-85 degrees since I’m running fluence spydr led... 1 gallon smart pots

You're thinking too much lol your runoff has a higher ppm cuz you're essentially flushing out old salts. If your plants look healthy then I wouldn't worry.

Eventually you will get to the point of watering everyday. That's usually time to transplant. Another little tip... Less runoff less nutes. Meaning, if you allow less runoff you can get by with feeding nutes every other or every third watering. I'd still give them a dose of calmag every time you water tho. Then when you feed them nutes, allow more runoff to wash out some of the old salts.

So question should I be watering everyday? I see some people say everyday then others are like treat it like soil and water when the pot is light ?

And also thanks for the responses everyone ... I see pics of plants where all the leaves are praying upward towards the light but mine don’t so I figured I was doing something or watering too much I did have a cal mag issue but resolved it all my new growth looks great

You wanna let it dry out some but not as much as soil. Also know that plants slow down on the drink as they mature, I find that most strain suddenly slow down on drink around day 50 of 12/12. So in general one should wait longer between watering as the plants mature.

Coco holds a lot of air in the gaps between the fibers. As the roots pack the pot tightly those air gaps can go away. It's more critical in this case to allow the coco to dry out a little between watering.

Young seedlings can be easily drowned in coco as well.

Did you wash the coco?
So what bought botanicare coco grow which is buffed and washed but it was my first time and I got eager to do something with the plants so I buffed it with sensimag at double the application rate and soaked overnight ... when I checked the ppm of coco it was at like 792 ppm so I was like that’s too high so I rinsed down to what my tap water is which is 66 ... now in my head I thought that wouldn’t effect the caption exchange points but I guess I did... and I wasn’t feeding cal/mag at that time ... when the issues started I then started feeding cal mag and the new growth was great

I ran coco for multiple years, and I found it works best if you water regularly, it is a hydroponic medium afterall. IMO, the best thing to do is set up a simple drip system, and get a timer which will give you multiple drips throughout the day. You want runoff to keep the nutes and ph consistent. Again, it's a hydroponic medium, not soil, so treat it accordingly.

Once a root ball has been established, water every day with nutrients with 10-15% runoff.I keep the e.c. between 1.0. -1.4..I’ll give it a weekly rinse with just cal/mag,I never let my coco dry out..
This seems like "industry best practice" @Flash63, when using coco, a hydroponic medium. Thanks for saying so. When does it make sense to water multiple times a day, say three times a day with nutrients one-third strength? With OP using one-gallon pots, just got me curious.

As long as you’re getting 10-15% runoff over the course of the day, some plants take more water than others...
