Hey guys! I've been using ffof and I dont like that it gets really hard and compacted and my water runs right off into the tray. I switched to strawberry fields but I'm not in flower and it says fruiting and flowering! Will I be ok? I'm just in my 1st week of veg using remo nuits. I'm growing in 5gal pots and I added about 4-6 hand fills of coco to the mix. Also what should I run the ph of this mix? Any help would be great thx

You will be fine,if I did check ph,I would want it around 6.3 -6.5 for a soil/coco mix..

I have never seen anything that people say about ffof(fresh bags) soil or nutes..
Old wet bags, that set outside, that's a different story.

But the strawberry fields,I like 50/50 with coco loco.
I must have gotten a bag of Tupur that sat outside or something because my last run with grapes 13 suffered. The mix wouldn't dry out for days.

I got the shitty bags from a different shop than I normally do and I won't make that mistake again.

Old shitty bags left outside are a killer.

Oh ok but if you look through the fox farm ocean forest potting mix you will find chunks of a clay like substance that's burnt orange in color. Well that's sewage sludge. Yuccccckkk

I've never seen burnt orange in any of my ffof ? I'm looking right now trying to see it, I transplanted over a dozen plants in the last couple days and I didn't notice anything orange then or ever (and I don't see anything listed as sewage on the bag, which doesn't totally surprise me, but) what supports what you say?

Also I don't use their newts, but can anybody else comments about the cancer warning on the bottle???

Read a bottle of Tiger bloom. I sift through my dirt breaking up the clumps when i fill a bucket that's how i find it. Seen it in happy frog too.

Thanks I'll check it out next time at the hydro store

I use GH flora because I figured hey, the astronauts use it too so it's got to be legit..!

Dont add anymore coco theres enough already in there, ya dont want to retain to much water, but im growing in 5 gal pots also and useing both you are correct ffof gets very heavey at end of cycles, here,s a great tip when useing 5 gal pots and wile your feeding your plants pick up pot of floor about 1/4" and then let it drop wait a couple minutes for drain of excess nutrients b4 you add more nutrients drop a couple more times, remember just a pinch of ground what this does is settle your soil wile feeding it also forces nutrients to root,s faster and prevents over watering your plants ive had great success the last 3yrs plus with ffsf soil.Good luck

I am in a very remote area and have been growing with plain dirt with compost and having fair to partly cloudy results. Just recently Fox Farm's products have been made available to me so I ordered Ocean Forest, Strawberry Fields, and Happy Frog along with their basic trio nutes. I have read that the OF is better for veg and Strawberry Fields is better for flower. I have purchased 5 gallon fabric pots, 20 WW photo seeds and 5 each of amnesia haze, blueberry and Northern Lights autoflower seeds. For the autos I'm thinking of starting the seeds in solo cups with HF and then when ready put them in their forever 5 gallon pots filled with about 1/3 to 1/2 of the SF on the bottom and the rest with OF so as th plant grows through veg her roots will finally get down to the SF hopefully about the time they start flowering. Does this sound feasible?

I grew exactly one plant in Strawberry Fields. A four week old clone in a number #1 nursery square, that was started in Happy Frog, was transplanted into a 7 gal of Strawberry Fields. Within a week, with water only, it was curled, clawed, and gnarled from nutrient toxicity. Completely scorched.
Strawberry Fields is like Ocean Forest, with chemical ferts added....
White hot soil.
From my experience, with one bag. My LA Chocolate definitely hated it.

Just wanting to add to this thread. Bought 3 bags of Strawberry Fields. Transplanted a stoked veg into the new mix. Exactly like Chip Green said, curl, shock, total fucketry. Wondering if I can sue the shop I bought this shit from. It's the DEVIL. Buyer beware. This soil blend will put you out of bizz. Sadness and anger!
