I’ve topped a plant last week... I pinched every site on the plant except one. It is really slow to come back. It looks healthy other than the new sprouts haven’t started. I mean they have sprouted where I pinched but damn it is slow. Any thoughts?

Sadly to admit, but for the few years I've been at it I've only topped plants once for 4 colas. I think I've come to the conclusion next year I'll top this 4 for 8. See how that goes. I might try one plant and top the 8 for 16. Not sure... science and methods and stuff. Whatever.

I’ve done this on a rather large northern lights to slow her down! Didnt work for long...... I think the size/health of the plant directly relates to how well they recover from a good hard top’n!
Before you know it, she’ll be off in all different directions 8-)
From all my experimentation, if you don’t veg her for a while longer now then you will have a lot of small to medium sized nugs....
Keep vegging if room/lighting allows and you will be happily rewarded!!

That’s what I thought, I topped her one night when I was stoned !&&$@!?. And yes I’m running out of light and room I think I can hang on for another week and a half or so . You can see in my grow journal I’ve had to open my closet doors to let the plants spread their wings

Within reason, when growing indoors, the more you top the larger the overall yield but the smaller the buds.
The whole purpose to topping is to create a more even/wide canopy for better overall light penetration (mainly when growing under artificial lighting)
I now personally top once while the plant is young to encourage strong side branching and use a scrog net. No stress/recovery time when training under a scrog net, the plant can focus on getting bigger rather than healing and the results are better/quicker imo.

I’ve topped for the last two years until I get at least 12 tops maybe 14 and I’ve had as many as 40 really nice colas on a king Tut

I only do outdoors, just can't seem to get the "nice nice" big bushes I'm looking for. I get big plants just not my ever so sought after bushes.

Never grown king tut, but I’ve heard of a few people getting awesome yields off it!?
Have you scrogged before Go go?
If not, I recommend giving that a go!
You can fill every square inch with colas and as tall as you want them to be (dependant on light penetration) once you get dialled in!!

Topping will help you there omgBoNg, if your after a more rounder bush. Otherwise I’ve seen guys tying netting down over their plants to keep them shorter and bushier.....
I’ve even seen a plant grown along the ground, every time a new shoot would sprout up about a foot tall, it would get tied to the ground haha. Not sure how it would of gone late flower once the dew set in though!? :wall:

I have built a scrog but realized I could not do easily what I like to do.... caring for the plants is therapy for me and in a scrog I can’t remove each plant and work with it.....

I scrog as well, but I don't veg them under a net. I LST them with flat tops, then I move them to a flower room and go to 12/12 under a net.

I do the same Therrion!
I personally find it easier when growing big plants to spread them out a little in veg, makes putting them under the netting a lot more user friendly and I snap less branches haha.

Grow fewer but bigger plants!? I personally find myself getting right into detail with my girls under scrog. You have to vision how you want a nice full, even canopy and put a bit of time into making that a reality. But when you do, there’s nothing more rewarding imo. If you like spending a little time with your girls Go go, have a go at scrog
