Well started harvest today, one plant, took way to long.
Total wet weight of trimmed smokable buds was 881 grams, so at .25 wet to dry should be around 8 zips. The smokable buds are heavy, hard and tight. Did not trim a lot of this plant because about 1/3rd of the plant was covered by canopy so quite a bit of lite and fluffy. This plus the trimmings and shake will go directly into making FECO as soon as it drys. Should dry out at around 6 to 7 zips. Want to get about 24 zips, off all 5 plants, of trim and shake to go into making FECO.
Here is a pic of the harvest about just over half way through. Took forever to harvest this plant.

Side bud.

Have decided to harvest just about the same on the other 4 plants, so will have plenty for making FECO.
We shall see how it all comes out. May do one tomorrow, but will probably wait till after New Years.
By the way Happy New Years to you folks, may you harvest be great and the quality be the best.

Here is #4 prior to harvest.

And after.

I would say I trimmed about of this plants total growth for smokable buds.
Thinking I need new 315W bulbs also. They have been used for both veg and flower for the past 6 grows, between 13,000 and 15,000 hours. Have probably lost more than half grow power. That could be why the lower parts of all of this grow are weak. Not sure but replacing both bulbs before I start this next run.

Did not realize I did not have them spread even, but they are above head height, so took the drying rack down and rearranged them.
First pic is the trimmed smokable buds.

The untrimmed buds and trim shake.

It takes practice to properly fill the screen and I did not do a good job on this grow. My next vertical grow will be with unknown (have not grown this strain before) genetics so I am unsure how long it will take me to fill the screen.
This grow was screwed when we went to Florida, I had planned to flip the day after we left and had my grow setup for that day but being gone for two and allowing two more weeks of growth prior to flip cost me big time. Way too much over growth and I did not do a very good trim job on the third week of flower causing just a mass of leaf growth covering bud sites and too lazy to constantly trim them. Growing consistently for two years has taken it's toll, I would have never of let this get away from me like I did. I need a break and will get one after I complete this clone SOG grow which begins tomorrow when I get back home. Will be taking cuttings for the new cloning machine and getting them started, so should be going into flower withing the next three weeks, giving me a late March to early April harvest date. I plan on taking at least 6 months off and do some traveling.

I am amazed that I got the volume I got off this first plant, so this harvest may not be as bad as I was expecting. Had I trimmed this plant like I normally do I would have added at least a couple of zips to this plants total. I will harvest the other 4 plants starting Wednesday, and if they hold true like this plant I should do fairly well. Get me enough smokable buds to add to the oil and plenty of untrimmed buds and shake to complete the FECO.

Happy New Years too y'all!
May this years grows be plentiful and poignant.

OK, today starts the cloning process. Not really sure what I am doing but here goes.
Here is the cloner in operation, will begin taking clones soon.

So, 14 Big Buddha Cheese Pheno #3, 10 - Pheno #5 and 10 - Pheno #2

20 seconds every 3 minutes to start with.

The cloning compound does not stay on the clones very long. I guess it gets into the rez solution and supplies the acid that way. Will be checking pH regularly to make sure the solution does not get out of wack with the cloning compound in it.

Plants are dried and in jars for curing. Dried weights..

Trimmed smokable buds - 645 grams, 23 zips or just over 1 gram per watt.
Untrimmed buds, fans removed but not trimmed for smoking - 175 gram, 6.25 zips
So total grow, 29.25 zips.
The untrimmed will go into making FECO along with somewhere around 5 zips of smokable buds and the trim. Should end up with around 16 zips for making FECO.

Not all that happy with this grow as I let it get away from me. w But it is what it is! Waiting over two weeks after I was ready to go into flower cost me. Plants at stretch reached the top of the tent and did not get the light needed, also my lamps need replacing, the lower lamp just did not have the penetration power and along with the overgrowth cause them to be light and airy. Most of the 6.25 zips came from the lower part of the plants.

Well it will make some good FECO and give me some smoke. Don't believe the quality is as high as the LSD grow. So may use more of this to make the oil and save the LSD for smoking.

Ran out of jars so had to pack them tighter than I like, curing may take a bit longer.

oh well, no one can be perfect all the time. you had to go help some people and you should feel good about that. still 23 zips is pretty kick ass. How does it smell?

I agree, I can live with this but I was so dialed into this grow. Really not bitching about the quantity, just was expecting more. Now counting the untrimmed buds @ 6 plus zips makes the total grow close to 2 lbs. so that ain't bad.
As far as the smell it is still curing but it is sweet pungent.

Am impressed with the fragrance of the cure. Been just 5 days since jarred and the first couple of days in the jar at burping there was little fragrance, opened them yesterday afternoon for about 30 minutes at around 2 PM, when my GF got here at 4:30 she went into the office, the door had been closed since burping, and she said she loved the fragrance. She has a much better nose than I have.

Will do a smoke test later in the week. Not sure how much I will keep for smoke but I will be using a majority of this grow for making FECO.

Getting next grow ready.
Clones taken from the mothers on Jan 1, put in the new DIY EZ Cloner, have never done this before so a big learning experience. I have three different pheno's of the Cheese from last grow, #'s 3@14 each, 5@10 each, and 2@10 each, so 34 plants in all and will choose the 24 I will use for this grow. I selected these three pheno's as their grow traits were very similar. In flower the were all about the same height and bulk.

Irrigation ready, tried the Rainbird emitters like I used last grow, but my pump only does 1.2 gpm so was not enough volume. Switched to 2 gph pressure compensating drippers, going to take some time to adjust but think it will be ok

The clones started swelling on 1/11 and here we are 5 days later. 33 of the 34 have rooted, expect the others by tomorrow.

Getting the Smart Pots ready, 3 pounds of coco in each pot. And the pots set up to get the initial flush with 6 gallons tap water and 20 gallons of rain water, will add Cal/Magic and very reduced amt of Rapid Start.

Unsure when I will transplant from the cloner to the pots, again this is a learning experience so reading and getting advice from growers who have done the clone thing and SOG before.
I need to get these planted, give them a couple of weeks to take off and put them into flower. Have a trip planned in about three months and want to harvest prior to the trip.
I could use some advice from anyone who has grown this method. When to pull the string on the transplant and do you think two weeks would be a long enough veg time?

Let's rock this place!

Of all the threads I've read on doing SOG I think they take them up to 3 or 4 sets before they flip. What's the stretch on this one?
Since I did not start this one into flower for about 15 days after the planned start date it is hard to say, but some where around 60%.
Thanks for the info.

I don't think so, going to just let them do their thing. There will be enough greenery in there that I feel I am already going to have to defo. I mean I will for sure lolly pop with that many plants the upper canopy should be solid. I am not sure of the yield with this type of grow, but hopefully not doing a lot of manipulation will still give me enough for a good batch of FECO.

Hey brother @gr865 I meant to throw a thank you your way for turning me onto those Bayite pumps.
Finally getting to setting those up in the garden and did some testing today.
A bit noisy but what a score!!
Probably would make a killer cloner pump to run some misters too eh? ;)

Your more than welcome buddy. Yes they are noisy but I am hard of hearing so it doesn't bother me, my GF now that is a different story. :)
I would think that would be too much pressure for a cloner, I am using a 550 gph aquarium pump but the first one I put in there was a 1050 gph aquarium pump and it put out the spray, finer misting. I felt that was too much so I put in the 550.
Also I was running my cloner at 1 min off and 3 min on and that would have drove my GF crazy with the noise.
Stop by the Part Deux thread when you get a chance.

Thanks for the kind words!
