Do I buy the Fluence Spydr X Plus or Amare Solarbar SB800 for a 8x4 tent?

Is there a better option?

Best Regards,

8 x 4 is a good sized tent. Thumbs up for giving them good lights.

SpydrX pulls 660 wall watts and the Solarbar pulls 800. Both lights can go as close as 6" and will give good 4x4 coverage and good canopy penetration. If you the lights in close proximity and fill up the entire 8 x 4 space, you would probably need 2 of each. Unless you were planning on using a light mover?

Solarbar I saw for like $1,700. SpydrX I saw for $1,500. So the Solarbar gives a little more watts but is a bit more expensive than the Spyrdr.

Good reviews on both of these lights so you can't go wrong with either.

I'd recommend an HLG 550 v2 over the Fluence. The HLG is a bit more efficient (2.5 μmol/joule for the HLG versus 2.3 μmol/joule for the Fluence) and the HLG is 500 bucks cheaper.
Don't get me wrong, the spydr x looks like a good light, but if you can get similar output with better efficiency and save 500 bucks I'd call that an easy decision.

800 watts 6" away? I know its spread out, but... Maybe the 600.... with my 800watt bars I'd be getting burn.

Both are nice lights. Perfect for a scrog in that 4 x 8. I'm doing similar in a 9 x 5 with 800 watt per side and 320 to come in the middle. Majo's.

I could also recommend two sets of 600 watt Meijiu Majo's. Going to run you about $1200 + shipping for both. Extra if you want to add bars on the fixture. I think the 600's are 5-6 bars.. you could add a couple in and get an even better consistent spread. I do 800 watts over 10 bars.

Oh shit ... I didn't even notice that. And to think - it's been on here for like 9+ months!!

I must always consult my Quality Control Team for proofreading before I hit post! Then again, my Quality Control Team probably finished a 1 1/4" RAW stuffed with weed shortly before posting that and proofreading was very low on the list. M&M's and Doritos were the higher priority.

That should have read 16". Even for the 600 watt unit. 6" would be for fluorescent lights.

Thanks for the correction Dr. Kiz.

Here's something to consider.
The Bar-8 Canna-Spec is 900w & can flower the 4x8 tent whereas the Spyder X would only be providing 330 of 2.3 umol/j per 4x4. The Amare will be giving you 450w of (better spectrum) 2.6 umol/j per 4x4.
And from owning one i can deffinetly say that the 4 bars at 450w will flower the 4x4 with height to spare. Also is fully detachable, pivots angles & comes with remote drivers & dimmer.
Yeah, the Spyder is only made for the 4x4 itself.

I have Fluence Spydr X Plus, but I don't use it anymore, so it sits in one of my closets as its simply not as good as I thought it would be! Anyhow, for me, I have found running 12 x 288(s) using (1) 480 driver, (at 460 watts at the wall), (36 watts per board), without heatsinks on 3 racks of 4 x 288(s) in a 4 x 4 space kills everything else I have tried to compare to that lighting array. And the same goes for a 5 x 5 area, but instead of using 12 x 288(s), I use 15 x 288(s) using (1) 600 driver, (at 560 watts at the wall), (36 watts per board), without heatsinks on 3 racks of 5 x 288(s)... I forgot to add this... in 4 x 4 grow space a 3.3 x 3.3 area is the max grow area I use for that grow space and in a 5 x 5 grow space a 4.3 x 4.3 area is the max grow area I use for that grow space!

PirateBug & HybridWay - thanks both for the practical info. I plan on ditching my flowering blurples next summer and go with white light LED's.

I had the Fluence as one of the lights to check. You folks recommend the Amare over the Fluence … noted.

I was also looking at the HLG 320w QB. But comparing apples to apples, do you think that a light like the Amare SE300 (315 wall watts) would be a better choice than the HLG model for a 2 x 4 area? The Amare is about $100 more but if the end results kick ass, so be it.

For a 2x4 id think about the Pro-3. Shaped fir it like a bar.
I use Pro-4's & they cover 3x5' NP.
I like both options you're considering but can say the Amares have always given me the best bag appeal.

Could you please help me aquire this led? Im new to RIU and can't seem to find where to PM u for code
Hello! I'm new here but have been browsing for about a yr. It's a shame they did that to Hybridway2. From what I saw he was one of the only growers, showing n growing. Divulging information yrs ahead of its time to undeserving manufacturers & self proclaimed speacialists. Providing undisputable results time n time again. Since he's left here theres very little advancements in diy or the industry in general. Though he has finally teammed up with Amare & been able to Innovate the Hortri-Centric Series that all the other tunable light manufacturers are struggling to understand, utilize proper spd's, provide an optimized schedule or techniques & noway can they explain any of it. That's why I've always stuck with Amare.
Hybridway worked with Amare Tech's Victor N. Those two know what they're doing.Victor has known & implemented more usefully innovations since "13" then scientists & manufacturers share now. They've always been at the top of the SSL (Sole Source Lighting) food chain & continue to be the only All-In-One Solution that outperforms anything despite the Electrical Efficiency differences which are always minimal. They spend allot more $ & time to produce high quality custom fixtures then the other 95%. The Bar-8 costs more to produce then any of these lights on the mkt yet sells for under $2/w with all those high end build options & innovations. Covers a 7.5' x 5' area. Thats x2 advanced, built like Brick shit house lights in one as it does every modular trick possible. Practically a crime really, the Hortri-Centric series will be slightly more cheddar.
Especially with the SolarBar-6 & SolarBar-8. I bought one Bar-6 + 8, both Hortri-Centric Series n OMG! I've never experienced anything like it. With the controller, Amare provides you with the perfect daytime schedule for the phase your in. Simulating spectral & Intensity swings throughout a Spring or Summer day along with the ability to vear off to advanced manipulatory techniques. Also micro managing phases. Veg + bloom are only a small % of phase specific lighting. Spds for germination, cloning, early Veg, mid n late too. Bloom Spectrums shift per time of the day all while maintaining or reducing your DLI (electricity) to still yeild results equal to sbs'ng itself. Not to mention regaining your crops Circadian Rythem & allowing the naturally occurring physical & chemical changes throughout the day. The common issues growers have with transitioning to the bloom phase or led on general has been eliminated. Because they're not guessing at your needs they do not encourage undesirable outcomes by handing you a 3-6 channel lamp that makes absolutely no sense unless your have the deep knowledge of Spectral Significance. Listening to whats out there for info. is sending you in the entirely wrong direction, chasing the tail full circle. And w/o the right controller it's a disaster waiting to happen. Recently inquiring about another Hortri-Centric Bar-8 I was sent some pics that are supposedly going on the website. Whenever that is. Getting frustrated. I have the direct connect so no worries here. W/o the site up explaining their early game changing innovation, less then optimal copies are at ever corner. Amare has already made the Gen:3 Bar6 & have new one of a kind, products in the works. They're selling to facilities & large accounts mostly. Maybe that's why they haven't bothered with the site yet. In hobby land growing, their name is fading into the abundance of overnight new companies claiming patents on stuff done 5 yrs ago. Lol! But with a R.O.I. every grow of better tree when compared to the most popular, HEE grow light, many are missing out. Yes, 12oz more in the 4x4 the ChilLed and others. Buys you a free expansion light each run . You can make contact on Instagram, the orange Amare Avatar. They make the only user friendly, optimized spectrum x3 channel commercial grade fixture available for a growers price range. The other tunable are allot less electrically efficient, cost twice as much & will not deliver close to the results as their light's not balanced, rather a balancing act. One reason why you Cannot bleach Amare buds. Glad I browsed before signing up. There's so much misinformation here, I only hope someone gets it.
You can bet, they will be play a major role in today's CEA advancements. Be cautious of those whom simply repeat false information from websites & 95% of these manufacturers. Scientists are even iffy.
