Fans on 24/7???

Quick question.....
Plants are 5 weeks old (a little slow going- had to sub out my light). They’re in a 4x4 tent on 18/6 lighting. My question is once the lights go off, my fans do too. Should my circulating fan stay on? And what about the exhaust fan? Cause right now everything goes off when the lights do.

Yes, at night is when you definitely want them on. That's when it gets humid and cool. Humidity + dark + cool = powdery mildew
I actually put a ceramic heater in the tent for that purpose - keep the same temp when light goes off as well as maintain temp.

I'm not sure if a temperature drop during lights out affects size of buds or how quickly the flower might "become ready" to harvest. It seems to in my limited ex[experience. I have read here on RIU that a small temperature drop, say ten degrees Fahrenheit, can encourage terpene content, color, trichome production and even leaf color.

That is quite interesting. I sure would like to know if this is a reality. Maybe we could get some more folks to way in on this.
Maybe I’ll start a new thread and ask.
Thanks for the theory.

All true. Resin production is off the charts when nights get cold! I’m speaking outdoor here.

I would drop your temps at night though. A few degrees at least

I am growing Critical Kush from Royal Queen Seeds,. RQS has several articles on their website and they write about temperatures. In every stage but the last they suggest an 8 to 10°F drop during lights out. During the last two weeks they suggest lowering the temperature even more, to 60°F or even lower.

Many of us have seen that higher dark temps than lights on just isnt great.

As to fans you can just leave your exhaust on if thats enough for the tent but both is fine. You need exhaust 24/7 as a basic :-)
