GH Trio RO and mag deficiency...

As the title says, This is my second grow using RO after multiple grows using hard water and the hardwater micro. I moved over to RO because my tapwater was so hard it was causing lockouts sometimes but im not getting the same explosive growth and some purple stems, even though the plants themselves look great, they are definitely slower vegging than when I was back in my tent using tapwater. I am filling another res with RO overnight and then I will either add cal-mag up to 0.2 EC or tapwater/RO mix up to 0.2 background before adding nutes. Anyone else had this experience? I am really beginning to think that the GH trio with RO needs a small boost of cal-mag.

if all you are having is just a Mg deficiency, use Epsom salts instead. 1gram per gallon will usually fix it. and you don't have the extra Ca and N that you get with Cal/Mg.

what light cycle do you use for vegging? 18/6, 20/4 etc??

18/6 600hps but ive got it hanging vertical with rdwc tubs around them, ill go get a pic quickly

no issues with root rot too?

and you should try running 24/0 for veg on one of your upcoming grows. it will cut down on your veg time.

didn't get the one with the best root zone the photo is too dark for some reason but one has a better root zone, I did starve them at the beginning they were wanting 0.6-0.8 and I was running them at 0.4, keep getting ppm and EC mixed up its a right PITA if you press the button my accident! as soon as I bumped them up to 1.0 they have been going ok again just the slight purpling of the stems

also a good time to check your pH meter. make sure you are getting accurate readings

Cali Magic is essential in RO. Make sure you mix it FIRST INTO the water. Stir.... Then add micro. Stir...then gro. Stir.... then bloom. You'll be fixed in a jiffy.

Couldn't the micro work. Also been wondering about say two part A B instead of Cal mag would bumping up 1st bottle A alittle extra say 50 or 100ppm. Solve the issue or would it add too much of something well Nitrogen.

Heres is the thing with GH Three Part. It was developed in the 1970's to grow hydroponics. Cannabis tends to have different requirements especially when it comes to magnesium, it's more of a macro nutrient than a micro nutrient and it should be maintained in a proper ratio with calcium.

One way that a fella named Lucas figured out was to just use the micro and bloom since the micro has plenty of nitrogen. A ratio of 1:2 Micro:Bloom at your desired PPM.

Another way to go is to use calimagic.

IMO if your using R.O. just count on always using calimagic all the time. Treat it like they are married. Not a lot but like 1ml a gallon or whatever to get you to .2ec. If you notice nitrogen issues drop the grow a bit. I would profess my love for GH Three part and calmag but I will spare you all.
Your plants look wilted but its just the bolts holding them down, I salute you for at least using grade 8.

Adding 1.4 mL of calimagic per gallon should provide the 0.2 EC

I am also a keen advocate of GH some of my first grows were awesome, dialling in with RO seems more difficult though! photo of old grow underneath...as you can see they really went crazy and filled my tent, ive been struggling to get these same results since moving to RO and sealed CO2 grow. I have a French version of cal-mag that i used with success before but i stopped using it because it cause lockout with my hard tapwater (didn't know much about growing at that stage lol!), im filling a res with RO as we speak to do a res change!

Grade 8? do you mean the pipework? I will take the bolts off once they hold lol, im doing some LST will be doing some topping also hopefully get some vertical scrog going
