He had courage and compassion, remember he was a Christian and one who lived by his values. He was also a product of an extremely hostile social environment and took the lumps required, compassion was his weapon against hate, his source or strength and courage, he will win in the end. A threatening black man is the last thing he wanted to be, with most white people eager to believe all black people are violent and less than they are as human beings. Winning the hearts of compassionate white people was his way and the only realistic one open to him to make change happen. Drive as many wedges into your opponents as possible, to split them up, a smart move for you and an smarter one for your kids. Say what you will about his methods, he put others before himself until the day he died, that alone makes him a hero.
After the election is the time for the attitude you (and I espouse), but only for those who cannot, or will not change, or at the very least shut the fuck up. Racism is a national security threat and will be treated as such moving forward, a democratic government will have no choice in policy on this matter, or in removing the GOP's unfair electoral advantages of gerrymandering, dark money and voter suppression (HR1). Black and brown Americans, along with the sensible white ones, will hopefully save the country, and for the first time the nation will really feel the power of the 12.3% black, and the 12.5% hispanic population at the polls.
If the democrats win a hat trick in 2020, it will be the death knell for racism in America, hate speech and acts will become very expensive. Calling the cops on someone just because they are black, will probably be made a hate crime and civil action will be made easier too. Trump proved that 75% of white American men are racist, that means that 75% of white male cops are too, combined with the incarceration statistics, it makes a pretty clear cut and damning case. Law enforcement reform is gonna be on the books too, they will owe the black folks who put them in and who will keep them in power that much. Trump inadvertently did a lot of good too, purely by accident though, and not the outcome his base will want at all!
I'm a WASP from Canada and it pisses me off that so many white people are hate and fear filled fucking idiots, it no doubt pisses you off far more and should. A constant social (and actual) assault on one's dignity, person, family and in many cases community, takes a tole on health, happiness and opportunity. These assholes are no better than NAZI's in my opinion and should be treated as such, after the election though, and they should be fucked over as skilfully as possible, remove their power first and keep chipping away at it.
PS I liked Malcom better than Martin, better character, he never cheated on his wife, Malcolm was a warrior!
