blue lab is go to for ph/ppm pen .... set on 700 scale ...getting my sample kit soon
any recommendations? I use happy frog soil. Instead of buying a pH pen i was going to add a little extra lime in there anyone have any thoughts or advice?
I'm looking for peoples routines with the things that come in the free sample kit
such as 1/2 tsp per gal of this and that at earlier veg stage and so on?
You can check with calibration solution......the ph need (2). A 7.0 ph and 4.0 ph bottle, and the ppm/ec meter has a 2.88 ec calibration solution. They are cheap but needed for proper maintenance. There is storage solution too but I just store mine in tap water.I have blue lab pens they are probably ten years old.. haven’t used them in a while, any way to check them or not worth trying?

If it’s gone dry, you’ll have to replace the sensor or the entire unit possibly, depending on modelI have blue lab pens they are probably ten years old.. haven’t used them in a while, any way to check them or not worth trying?
get the cleaning kit and storage solution , worth a shot...... ph pen let it soak a few days in storage solution ... never know .....in last 6 yrs I only replaced my blue lab pens once and thats with heavy use.....like everything else you gotta keep the maintenance up......I have blue lab pens they are probably ten years old.. haven’t used them in a while, any way to check them or not worth trying?
with blue lab you just replace the pen ....If it’s gone dry, you’ll have to replace the sensor or the entire unit possibly, depending on model
Indeed , no point buying any other brand imhowith blue lab you just replace the pen ....
Like bubba mentioned, soak that ph pen in the storage solution for 24 - 48 hours, then calibrate it.i still have all the storage calibration and cleaning kits (also ten years old)
guess i should try changing the batteries and testing them? Do you guys think this calibration solution could still be good?
I barely used these pens when i got them and kept them very clean. They come dry, are we sure that just cause they dried out they're bad now?
I don't really wanna invest in pens again. I love soil and staying away from pens and all that jazz for now
I guess I might wanna just go with test strips. As for PPM, I'll look back in the thread and read what people are using for dosaging. Thanks alot guys for all the input. 40$ for a sample kit to get a test grow in is a great deal even if I don't outperform my other stuff on the first go
this would be replacing biobizz line if it's good enough. I use biobizz fish mix, algamic, acti-vera, grow, bloom, root juice, bio heaven, Dyna-gro Protekt and GH calmag+
I've heard the notg is calcium based and helps eliminate using cal-mag all the time. I think i've had a problem with tap water over time of the grow locking out cal-mag from the chloramine in it or whatever...
Trying all poland spring water this grow and seeing none of the previous "deficiencies" I had. But still looking for a cheap way to filter out the chloramine (i still haven't found one)
I think I may look for a place to refill my poland spring 5gal jugs for less than 7$, or maybe make a rain collection system. Rain water has alot of pollutants in it though and i'd still want to filter it through charcoal. This may be cheaper. I would really appreciate input on this!
This grow I chose to focus on water the essential compound and lighting (HLG qb's 288v2 rspecs and 4k v2's)
next grow I will be using the test kit so just trying to think ahead for when I get the ball rolling on flipping to flowering
That 200:1 aloe is good but there is better, buildasoil upgraded theirs and a similar competitor is Growth Efficiency Technologies (GET), they do freeze dried coconut too. Using live aloe plants and liquid organic coconut water is more affordable and is way more potent than the powders. That silica can't hurt, I use the exact same product from Buildasoil......its hard to tell its benefits with nectar though since nectar branches end up so strong, but it is very beneficial for the rootzone biology too and can also be foliared. Another really good silica product is GOLDEN HARVEST but it's a different source, rock not rice hulls. I like trying new products as well, many duds along the way but I have found some gems that have ended up as staples in my gardening methods. Use your corn SST through transition as a foliar, they will go nuts!!Bubba , whats your coconut water recipe, I just order my seeds for sprout tea from build a soil I got mung, barley, corn, and fenugreek id like to see what it does for my garden .
Also what do you guys think about Recycle Sil
go to 3:38
some time i need to be reeled back in from all the product that come out but at the same time how do you no if you dont try it....last thing do any of you use aloe vera... if so what brand do i need the 200:1 aloe vera

Fresh coconuts are the best, it has to be the green immature ones though, And if you get powdered you want the freeze dried. But you will get alot of the same benefit from the corn SST.I didnt order the coconut powder i was waiting on bubba or your response i have access to fresh coconuts from the store il just use that...if thats good?
