I paid 70 bucks for a cdmall 1200w 240 actual watt. 2 plants in a 2x3x4. And it works decent for me.

Yes, as you can dim it down to 60 Watt to see you through veg and crank it up through flower, I have got one of these kits and it is actually drawing 172 Watts at the wall, really high-quality product

With such limited vertical space, I'd suggest a diy strip build utilizing 2 foot LED strips. Either the ones with lm301b diodes, or the super cheap EB gen 2 strips. The EBs are less than $5 each, so you can buy a bunch of them and get excellent coverage. When you have enough strips, you can run them without heatsinks, and you'll also be able to run the lights real close to the plants.

Watt for watt QB kit will out yield all the cheap units easily, depending on fixture you can expect QB kit to outyield cheap fixtures by as much as 70-100% due to the efficiency of the diodes, that's why you'll never see any yield figures with those poor quality crappy Chinese lights, hence why they are cheap

Because you don't need to spend top dollar for a quality light. I spent 70 on a light... under 150 bucks total for everything in my grow, and ill pull a decent yeild. And you could buy anything used but a used light is the last thing you want to buy used. I can see if you have the money or are commercial growing. Theres a guy on here that seen mine and he bought 4 of the 70 dollar lights I have for his large space and seems to be working great. Definitly if you have the money .go for it. But if not.. Theres plenty of decent "cheap" lights. Idk why you'd say don't bother?

Because a cheap led is twice the price of an hid. Its not an upgrade if you are running an led producing the same amount of heat, at or near the same wattage as an equivalent hid. Bang for buck hid still wins.... I run an led so im not hating
Diy is worth it if you want it, all production models pretty much price themselves out.

Where can I find a complete hid setup for 35 bucks? Cheap led twice the cost of an hid??Ill buy it right now lol and as far as heat . my led throws off hardly any heat at all as any hid lighting I've seen runs hot. . idk how you figure same heat output? If everyone had the money we would all run the best lights out there. But as far as saying a cheap led is a waste if money. Thats pretty ignorant don't you think? I got 240 actual watts for 70 bucks. By the time you get a bulb a ballast and any thing you'd need for a complete hid setup you're well up over 150 . ik not saying a cheap led is better than hid. I'm saying if your on a tight budget and looking for sufficient lighting .. A cheap led would work perfect. Also I've ran the led 24 7 . no heat issues.. No change in electric bill. And no wires had to be ran . just plug and play.. K.I.S.S. keep it simple stupid lol
